Job Description

Assistant Strength and Conditioning

Shorter University

Shorter University an NCAA Division II institution which competes in Conference Carolinas is currently accepting applicants for the position of Assistant Strength and Conditioning coach. This position will be responsible for assisting with training multiple sports programs conditioning plans and attending practices and games as well as other duties assigned by the Head Strength coach. This 12-month position reports to the Director of Strength and Conditioning.

Qualifications:

    Christ. The Assistant Athletic director of Compliance must possess a commitment to this mission in the context of the Universitys athletic programs.
  • Monitor the safety of conditions inside the athletic weight room.
  • Must be able to stand for long periods of time.
  • Willingness to work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word Excel Power Point).
  • Bachelors Degree in appropriate field (Masters degree preferred).
  • Holds an NCAA approved strength & conditioning certification or seeking.
  • Two years of strength & conditioning experience at the high school or collegiate level preferred
  • Maintains CPR / AED and First Aid certification

Essential Job Duties:

  • Work with the Director of Strength & Conditioning Coach to develop plan implement and execute a strength & conditioning program for Shorter Universitys NCAA teams working closely with head coaches and sports medicine.
  • The Assistant Strength & Conditioning Coach will report to the Director of Strength and Conditioning and the Athletic Director and provide leadership to Shorter Universitys NCAA teams. This includes ensuring a safe and effective working and training environment in the athletic weight room developing and implementing the strength and conditioning programs for all sports and working closely with the head coaches of each sport and the sports medicine program within the university.
  • Work with coaches to establish strength & conditioning programs for Shorter Universitys NCAA teams.
  • Supervise lifts conditioning sessions and other training.
  • Instruct student-athletes in proper and safe weight training techniques plyometrics speed development drills conditioning exercises and agility movements that are current and the assigned training is conducted.
  • Assist with the maintenance and upkeep of the athletic weight room.
  • Adhere to and enforce all policies and procedures of the department and the University the rules and regulations of the NCAA and Conference Carolinas and any other authorities that affect the intercollegiate athletics program.
  • Effectively communicate with a diverse population of student-athletes coaches and staff.
  • Effectively manage multiple teams.
  • Communicate clear and concise directions.
  • Effectively work with all departments and staff
  • Willingness to work nights and weekends.
  • Administer First Aid CPR and AED.
