The Tutor is responsible for assisting classroom teachers in all aspects of classroom instruction related to the academic advancement of at-risk students.
Essential Functions
- Prepare and develop teaching aids and lessons
- Articulate and present subject matter to students accurately clearly and concisely
- Assist in the routine supervision and maintenance of classroom students
- Assist in the preparation and administration of classroom activities and examinations
- Assist students individually or in groups with class assignments and in order to prepare students for state testing
- Control of student behavior and discipline
- Assist with establishing and maintaining open communication with parents and the community
- Maintain a positive attitude with an optimistic outlook on self and others
- Execute policies and regulations of the school and support the on-site administration
- Compile maintain and file all physical and computerized reports records and all other pertinent documents required
- Monitor school premises to include but not limited to: hallways and cafeteria to ensure student safety
- Monitor student behavior and report unsafe or inappropriate behavior to administration
- Instruct and maintain records on small group tutoring sessions during school after school or on weekends
- Attend and participate in all required meetings and school related activities
Other Functions
- Able to react to change productively and handle other essential tasks as assigned
Qualifications and Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent with three (3) years of tutoring or teacher assistant experience in a Texas public private or charter school
- Have strong communication interpersonal and organizational skills to achieve the goals objectives and mission of the school
- Ability to work well with students
