RESPONSIBILITIES:
Essential Functions -
- Effectively teach the approved theory laboratory and/or clinical courses to prepare students to become respiratory therapists.
- Teaching assignments include alternative delivery systems such as online or web supported instruction and could include evening and/or non-traditional scheduling.
- Develop and implement instructional materials assessments and activities consistent with course objectives and accreditation requirements (CoARC).
- Provide instruction that reflects current practices in respiratory care and addresses the diverse learning needs of students.
- Assist in the development and revision of course syllabi assessments and educational materials.
- Supervise and evaluate student performance in clinical and/or laboratory settings.
- Participate in the evaluation and continuous improvement of program curriculum and student learning outcomes.
- Maintain current knowledge of respiratory care practices and applicable state and national regulations.
- Foster a respectful and cooperative learning environment that supports student engagement and professional growth.
- Assist in the orientation of new students and faculty as needed.
- Participate in required faculty meetings in-service training and professional development activities.
- Ensure compliance with HutchCC policies clinical site policies and CoARC accreditation standards.
- Maintain accurate student records and report student progress in a timely manner.
- Arrive at work on time attend work regularly and successfully perform the assigned responsibilities for this position.
- Comply with HutchCC policies practices and procedures.
Secondary -
- Perform other relevant duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelors degree from an accredited institution Masters degree preferred.
- Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) credential.
- Current Kansas license as a Respiratory Therapist or eligibility for licensure.
- Minimum of two (2) years of clinical experience in respiratory care.
- Current CPR certification.
- Effective oral and written communication skills.
- Prior teaching or precepting experience in a CoARC-accredited respiratory care program preferred.
- Familiarity with learning management systems and simulation-based instruction preferred.
- Ability and willingness to teach via alternative delivery systems.
- Ability to develop and maintain effective professional relationships.
- Ability to communicate professionally with individuals from diverse ethnic racial socioeconomic gender and disabilities populations.
- Physical requirements include the ability to lift up to 50 pounds walk bend stoop reach push/pull carry etc.; excellent written verbal and listening communication skills; ability to understand words and respond effectively and appropriately; Visual acuity to view a computer terminal; to use appropriate judgment and to apply tact and courtesy in difficult situations; Light to medium/indoor work environment.

SALARY and STATUS:
The salary is commensurate with qualifications as determined by HutchCC administration. This position must be filled for a minimum of a semester (85 days) and an agreement could be entered into fall spring or summer terms. This part-time support staff position is 12 months annual at-will and nonexempt. This position does not qualify for the HutchCC Benefit package due to the part-time status. However the employee in this position may qualify for the KPERS Retirement Plan but is dependent on the number of actual work hours.
