Job Description

Job Summary

Under the joint direction of the Staff HR Investigation Manager and Faculty Affairs Conflict Resolution Manager this position shares responsibility for the oversight and coordination of the campus-wide Conflict Resolution and Workplace Violence Prevention programs. In this capacity the incumbent serves as a key coordinator managing the initial triage of concerns submitted by CSULB students faculty staff and MPPs. Responsibilities include logging and tracking submissions in the campus system of record and appropriately forwarding matters to the designated campus office for further handling.

The incumbent will collaborate closely with the Staff HR Investigation Manager and Faculty Affairs Conflict Resolution Manager to support the management of staff faculty and MPP conflict resolution and workplace violence concerns. This includes assisting in the implementation and facilitation of related educational outreach learning and development activities in support of the campus programs.

Additionally the incumbent will serve as the primary coordinator for the campus business process related to the approval and provision of official employment references on behalf of CSULB for current or former employees seeking employment outside the CSU system.

Key Responsibilities

  • Serves as the primary coordinator for campus-wide conflict resolution - Responsible for the day-to-day operations of the conflict resolution program including monitoring designated email inboxes and conducting triage to determine the appropriate referral based on whether submissions relate to students faculty staff or MPPs.
  • Provides support for Faculty/Staff/MPP workplace violence concerns activities - Responsible for day-to-day handling of all and workplace violence submissions in program email inboxes engaging in initial triage process to determine if submission is student faculty or staff/MPP related.
  • Serve as the primary coordinator for the campus business process related to approval for official CSULB employment references.
  • Outreach learning and development activities related to the campus programs - Assists and coordinates with the planning outreach and delivery of educational sessions including workshops presentations and awareness campaigns for both Workplace Violence and Conflict Resolution.

Knowledge Skills and Abilities

The ideal candidate possesses strong written and verbal communication skills demonstrating the ability to compose professional correspondence such as letters and memos. They are highly organized detail-oriented and capable of completing work accurately while adhering to internal deadlines and schedules. With a proactive and independent work ethic they can effectively plan coordinate and manage multiple assignments in dynamic environments. They exhibit sound judgment take initiative and adapt well to change. The candidate maintains positive professional interactions with faculty staff and visitors fostering cooperative working relationships and contributing to overall office goals as a collaborative team member. They are proficient in Microsoft Office applications including Outlook Word Excel PowerPoint and electronic calendaring and are capable of learning HR information systems with PeopleSoft experience preferred. A solid understanding of HR-related university policies and procedures particularly those of CSULB is advantageous. Above all they communicate with civility and clarity uphold administrative standards and thrive in a fast-paced evolving office setting.

Ability to communicate with an ethnically and culturally diverse campus community. Ability to follow all university policies procedures and guidelines including but not limited to safety civility information security and non-discrimination policies and procedures. Ability to contribute to a positive university experience for each and every student and assist in achieving the universitys commitment to a vision of excellence.

Education and Experience

Equivalent to three years of related experience required.

Experience in collective bargaining environment and in higher education preferred.

  • Sedentary work - Involves mainly sitting. Walking and standing are minimal. Lifting is limited to lightweight objects. (10 pounds or less).

Compensation

Salary placement is determined by the education experience and qualifications the candidate brings to the position internal equity and the hiring departments fiscal resources.

Hiring Range: The hiring range for this position is $3661 - $4333 per month commensurate with candidates education experience skills and training.

CSU Classification Salary Range: The CSU Classification Salary Range for this position is $3661 - $6385 per month.

Time Base

1.0 time-base 40 hours per week.

Duration of Appointment

This is a temporary position for 1 year with no permanent status granted. Temporary assignments may expire prior to the ending date.
