The electrical engineer is responsible for the design and development of electrical and control systems for diesel engines and generator sets and will act as a generator/alternator subject matter expert for the organization. The electrical engineer also supports engine and generator set production test and commissioning. This position reports to Fairbanks Morses Navy Segment while also supporting the MSC and USCG segments.
Principle Duties and Responsibilities
Subject matter expert for specifying operating and troubleshooting alternators / generators.
Maintain and support engine and generator set control software (Allen Bradley PLC and various proprietary systems).
Support engine and generator set manufacturing assembly and test including troubleshooting electrical and control systems.
Develop review and update electrical engineering documents including:
Interconnect drawings for integrated systems.
System schematics.
Instrumentation drawings.
Procurement drawings.
Instructions & procedures.
Bills of materials.
Works with customer to resolve contract deviations unclear requirements etc.
Support sales process (Contract changes and new contracts):
Review customer specifications.
Develop compliance matrices.
Estimate cost and lead time.
Occasional domestic and international travel. Typical reasons for travel include training customer visits supplier visits and shipboard engine commissioning.
BS in electrical engineering preferred emphasis in generators and/or power.
Strong preference for diesel generator set knowledge and experience.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Demonstrated ability to evaluate and balance team and individual workloads through effective time management prioritization and organizational skills.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office software including Excel Word and PowerPoint.
Willingness and flexibility to travel to interact with customers.
EMI experience a plus.
Technical proficiency in French German or Danish a plus.
This position requires access or potential access to Unclassified Naval Nuclear Propulsion Information which is Not Releasable to Foreign Nationals (NOFORN) data.
