Are you passionate about making a difference in the mental health and addictions sector Ontario Health is looking for a talented Decision Scientist to join our Mental Health and Addictions Centre of Excellence (MHA CoE). This is a unique opportunity to lead high-impact projects and contribute to the improvement of healthcare systems.
Here is what you will be doing:
Advanced Analytics:Utilize your expertise in advanced statistical modeling predictive modeling demand forecasting and statistical inference to guide strategic planning.
Collaborative Environment:Work closely with cross-functional teams and build strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
Knowledge Sharing:Enhance Ontario Healths analytics brand through external publications and presentations and participate in knowledge-sharing activities.
Impactful Work:Lead mission-critical initiatives that advance care within the Mental Health and Addiction care systems.
Strategic Influence:Serve as a trusted advisor aiding in strategic decision-making to improve access quality and sustainability within the healthcare system.
Innovative Projects:Design and execute data analyses and modeling tasks to identify key issues develop analytic tools for resource allocation conduct capacity planning and measure the impact of various initiatives
Key Responsibilities:
Lead the design and implementation of high-quality data analyses and modeling.
Translate analytical results into meaningful actionable insights through reports briefing notes and presentations.
Conduct geospatial and catchment area analyses to identify underserved areas and optimize the location of mental health services.
Develop models and tools to inform planning decisions based on various inputs such as travel distance provider volumes and forecast demand.
Here is what you will need to be successful:
Education and Experience
Masters degree (PhD preferred) in Epidemiology Health Services Research Statistics Biostatistics Health Informatics Computer Science or recognized equivalent or combination of education and work experience is required.
Minimum five years work experience or combination of work/education experience in quantitative epidemiological or health services research analyses with similar involvement in leading designing implementing and analyzing quantitative mixed methods or evaluation projects.
Experience coding in programming/statistical languages of SASSQL R and Python is required. Experience in geospatial mapping and analysis.
Experience with national and provincial healthcare administrative and clinical datasets including DAD NACRS NRS CCRS OHIP clinical registries and RPDB.
Experience in statistical modelling or advanced analytics (e.g. regression analysis survival analysis cluster analysis longitudinal analysis principal component analysis and factor analysis).
Demonstrated experience leading large complex initiatives ideally at the provincial level in health system planning and allocation.
Ability to interpret measures of effect (e.g. odds ratios hazard ratios risk ratios etc.) in the appropriate context and to inform actionable insights.
Knowledge and Skills
An understanding of Ontarios health care system with particular emphasis on measurement principles.
Strong understanding of the mental health and addiction sector and experience in a healthcare system environment.
Experience with common healthcare key performance quality and funding indicators are an asset.
Experience managing multiple complex projects allocating resources and negotiating timelines.
Strong relationship building skills with demonstrated experience engaging and building consensus amongst diverse stakeholders.
Excellent communication skills including the ability to interpret and synthesize research and technical information prepare briefing notes reports policy documents & deliver effective presentations.
Demonstrated ability to work independently in a self-directed manner with minimal supervision.
Ability to work well under pressure and use good judgment in assessing difficult situations.
Comfortable working in a dynamic fast-paced environment with a degree of uncertainty or ambiguity
Excellent organization and time management skills.
Experience leading meetings presenting statistical proposals methods analyses results and interpretation.
Motivated to achieve high quality work with attention to detail.
