The Virtual Safety Monitor provides continuous remote observation and verbal redirection to ensure patient safety. This role emphasizes maintaining patient dignity and privacy while promptly communicating with on-site staff about any immediate safety concerns. The position requires adherence to patient confidentiality and institutional policies.

Roles and Responsibilities:

• Operate the TeleSitter system maintaining continuous observation and verbal redirection for up to 16 patients simultaneously.
• Communicate behavioral changes to on-site staff promptly and clearly.
• Participate in shift reports sharing and reviewing pertinent patient information.
• Collaborate with healthcare teams to identify and address patient safety concerns.
• Ensure patient privacy dignity and environmental safety at all times.

Required Skills and Experience:

• High school diploma G.E.D or equivalent experience with general knowledge of hospital operations.
• Completion of hospital orientation and training.
• Minimum 1 year of experience in patient care hospital environments or a related field.
• Proficiency in operating computer systems and multitasking.
• Effective communication skills including the ability to use microphones headsets and webcams.

Preferred Skills and Experience:

• Prior experience in a clinical or healthcare setting.
• Familiarity with Microsoft Windows and basic computer applications.

Physical Requirements:

• Continuous visual monitoring of digital displays with the ability to remain alert for prolonged periods.
• Frequent verbal communication using audio devices.
• Light physical tasks such as adjusting computer equipment (less than 10 pounds).
• Cognitive ability to multitask and prioritize simultaneous safety concerns effectively.
• Work is performed in a remote or office-based setting with minimal environmental exposure.

Location Travel and Shift Requirements:

• ONSITE at Cayuga Medical Center: 101 Dates Drive Ithaca NY 14850
• Shift: Three 12-hour shifts 7am - 7pm with every other weekend as assigned
• 0% Travel can be expected in this role

Pay Range Disclosure:

Standard Rate of $19.95 - $22.00 per hour with benefits
