Key Responsibilities:
Understanding Flute Geometry: Knowledge of different types of flute geometry (e.g. up-cut spirals down-cut spirals high-helix flutes) and their applications in CNC machining.
Tool Selection: Choosing the correct cutting tool with the appropriate flute geometry for the specific material and operation considering factors like material type chip evacuation needs and desired surface finish.
Machine Setup and Operation: Setting up the CNC machine and installing the selected tools including adjusting settings like cutting speeds and feeds to optimize performance based on the flute geometry.
Chip Evacuation: Ensuring efficient chip evacuation during the cutting process as flute geometry is directly related to the ability of chips to escape from the cutting zone.
Monitoring and Adjustment: Monitoring machine operations and making adjustments to settings as needed to ensure optimal performance and prevent issues like chip clogging or tool dulling.
Quality Control: Inspecting finished products and comparing them to specifications ensuring that the appropriate flute geometry and settings were used to achieve the desired results.
Maintenance: Performing routine maintenance on CNC machines and tools to ensure their functionality and proper utilization of equipment and material.
