Job Description

Instructional Coach Job Responsibilities (Grades 6-12)

Position Title: Instructional Coach

Grades: 6-12

Reports To: Principal

Summary: The Instructional Coach serves as a vital leader in fostering high-quality
instruction and continuous professional growth among faculty members in grades
6-12. This role is dedicated to enhancing teaching e

ectiveness promoting
data-driven decision-making and ensuring rigorous vertically aligned curriculum
delivery to maximize student success.

Key Responsibilities:
1. Content/Department Meeting Leadership & Organization:
Design organize and facilitate regular content-speci

c department meetings
(e.g. Math on Mondays ELA on Tuesdays Science/History on Wednesdays).
Develop agendas that are aligned with instructional goals curriculum
standards and school-wide initiatives.
Guide discussions to ensure productive outcomes fostering collaboration and
shared understanding among department members.
2. Vertical Alignment & Curriculum Cohesion:
Actively work with departments to ensure vertical alignment of curriculum
across grades 6-12 identifying gaps and redundancies.
Promote consistency in instructional strategies assessment practices and
academic expectations across grade levels within each content area.
Support departments in interpreting and implementing state and national
standards e

ectively.

3. Instructional Fidelity & Best Practices:
Monitor and ensure that teachers are implementing required instructional
practices curriculum components and school-wide initiatives in their
classrooms.
Provide support and resources to help teachers maintain

delity to adopted

programs and research-backed methodologies.
4. Individualized Teacher Coaching & Support:
Schedule and conduct one-on-one coaching sessions with individual
teachers during their conference periods or other designated times.
Provide personalized support addressing speci

c instructional challenges

planning lessons or re

ning classroom management techniques.

Help teachers re

ect on their practice and set actionable goals for

improvement.

5. Classroom Walkthroughs & Feedback:
Regularly conduct informal classroom walkthroughs to observe instructional
practices student engagement and the learning environment.
Provide timely constructive and actionable feedback to teachers focusing
on areas of strength and opportunities for growth to enhance student
outcomes.
Document observations and follow-up on recommendations.
6. Professional Development Design & Delivery:
Identify school-wide and individual teacher professional development needs
through data analysis observations and teacher input.
Design facilitate and deliver targeted professional learning opportunities
(e.g. workshops study groups) to address instructional priorities.
Stay current with educational research and best practices to inform
professional development content.
7. Data Analysis & Goal Se
ing:

Collaborate with teachers and administration to analyze student performance
data (e.g. common assessments standardized tests) to identify areas of
strength and weakness.
Support teachers in using data to inform instructional decisions di

erentiate

instruction and set measurable goals for student achievement.
8. Modeling E

ective Instruction:

Demonstrate exemplary teaching practices in classrooms to provide teachers
with concrete examples of e

ective strategies.

Co-teach lessons with teachers to model new techniques and provide
in-the-moment support.
9. Collaborative Leadership:
Work closely and consistently with the Principal and Assistant Principal to
align instructional initiatives with school-wide goals and priorities.
Communicate regularly about teacher progress professional learning needs
and student instructional trends.
Participate in leadership team meetings and contribute to strategic planning
for academic improvement.
10. Assessment Management:
Oversee the creation and implementation of subject-speci

c tests within

DMAC.
Coordinate and arrange all logistics for NWEA MAP testing sessions including
scheduling technology readiness and teacher training.
Ensure accurate data collection and reporting from all assessments.
