Summary: Doulas play a key role in the success of the MamaCare Rising Program by maintaining a caseload of pregnant mothers and engaging in community outreach to recruit eligible families and completing the intake process with those families as needed. As a Doula you will provide home visits group services and referrals to help mothers build the foundation for their familys health and development.
Supervisory Responsibilities: (as applicable)
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Provides childbirth education and support services in the home and in the community
- Demonstrates a non-judgmental orientation when working with families and treats all individuals with respect regardless of differing cultures religions sexual and gender identities values philosophies and lifestyles
- Able to maintain appropriate and professional boundaries with families and providers
- Completes accurate and timely completion of written assessments of families to assist with evaluation and the quality improvement of program
- Identifies and coordinates with formal/informal supports community-based resources medical and hospital staff
- Educates and reviews child development and parenting practices with caregivers to promote an increase in healthy parenting behaviors and attachment
- Completes administrative documentation requirements as outlined in agency policy
- Performs other special assignments outreach or miscellaneous duties as requested
- Performs on-call duties as assigned
- Performs other related duties as assigned to meet business needs.
Required Skills/Abilities:
- Certified Birth Doula preferred or at minimum has completed training and willing to obtain certification.
- Experience working with children and families preferred.
- Familiarity with social services compliance and training protocols/requirements.
- Ability to maintain highly confidential data.
- Excellent planning and organizational skills.
- Well-developed interpersonal and communication skills.
- Ability to work with minimal supervision and multi-task to meet important deadlines.
- Spanish Bilingual language skills a plus.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Certified Birth Doula preferred
- Home visiting experience preferred.
Education and Experience:
- Doula Certification or has completed training and is ready to complete certification
- One to two years of experience
Physical Requirements/Working Conditions:
- Use of general office equipment (computer keyboards telephones copy and telefax machines). May require minimal filing. Driving/operation of a vehicle.
