A Day in the Life:
The Financial Reporting Accountant is responsible for preparing and distributing financial activity reports for the assigned business function. Success in this role relies on good working relationships with internal and external partners to ensure timely and accurate reporting and settlement of payments. Additionally this role is responsible for recording journal entries preparing account reconciliations and performing other routine accounting functions including researching discrepancies and working collaboratively to resolve issues.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Prepare all reporting and reconciliations for assigned business functions and/or product lines.
- Assist in preparing required state and regulatory filings throughout the year.
- Compile data and prepare reports to ensure proper account coding and tax treatment for Company sponsored travel.
- Assist in preparation of financial statements and regulatory reports including NAIC schedules.
- Responsible for completing daily operational tasks on a rotating schedule basis as assigned.
- Provide excellent internal and external customer support as applicable.
- Perform other projects as assigned.
Schedule:
This is full-time exempt position. Hours from 8a to 4:30p; or as needed for department coverage. Hybrid schedule as needed for business needs.
Essential to Your Success:
- Fundamental understanding of accounting principles necessary to prepare general ledger journal entries and reconcile assigned accounts
- Intermediate skills in Microsoft Excel and Word
- Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing with NGL employees management and external parties
- Ability to exercise sound judgment and to ensure effective and timely delivery of services
- Detail oriented and organized
- Ability to consistently meet deadlines utilizing strong time management skills
Education Requirements:
- Bachelors degree in Accounting Finance or related field preferred
Years of Experience:
- In lieu of a Bachelors degree a minimum of five years of accounting experience required.
Bachelors degree with an accounting internship experience preferred.
