Job Description

POSITION POSTING

Teacher - Middle School 6th Grade Social Studies at Frontier Middle School

Salary & Benefits

QUALIFICATIONS:

  1. Valid Washington State teaching certificate with endorsements in Social Studies/History.
  2. Demonstrated understanding of research-based instructional strategies and assessment practices that support effective instruction.
  3. Recent successful experience working with educators in demonstrating and modeling effective instructional strategies and assessment practices.
  4. Demonstrated knowledge of needs of diverse learners and strategies for addressing these needs.
  5. Understanding of appropriate local and state standards.
  6. Evidence/demonstration of use of technology to enhance student learning or willingness to learn.
  7. Demonstrated organizational skills and commitment to follow through on tasks.
  8. Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain excellent working relationships with students teachers school administrators support personnel and community members.
  9. Demonstrated ability to effectively communicate orally and in writing.
  10. Willingness to work in co-curricular program.
  11. Middle School teaching experience preferred.
  12. Ability and interest in working with underserved students.

DEMONSTRATED ABILITIES:

  1. Ability to communicate effectively with students staff parents and community.
  2. Ability to work cooperatively as a member of a building team.
  3. Ability to effectively manage middle school students.
  4. Ability to assume leadership role in curriculum development.
  5. Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the district/department may find appropriate and acceptable.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Teach Social Studies/History at the middle school level.
  2. Maintain classroom environment conducive to learning. Maintain classroom management.
  3. Coordinate classroom experiences with other staff members.
  4. Ability to develop direct and maintain co-curricular activities for middle school students.
  5. Knowing and utilizing research based instructional practices.
  6. Utilizing appropriate intervention strategies.
  7. Effectively modify curriculum and differentiate instructional practices to support student learning.
  8. Use data to modify instruction as needed. Assess student learning on a regular basis.
  9. Contribute as an active member with your PLC Team. Be a contributing member of the Frontier staff.
  10. Ability to work with staff and participate in site-based decision making process.
  11. Must have excellent attendance.
  12. Other duties as assigned.
