Job Description
POSITION POSTING
Teacher - Middle School 6th Grade Social Studies at Frontier Middle School
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Valid Washington State teaching certificate with endorsements in Social Studies/History.
- Demonstrated understanding of research-based instructional strategies and assessment practices that support effective instruction.
- Recent successful experience working with educators in demonstrating and modeling effective instructional strategies and assessment practices.
- Demonstrated knowledge of needs of diverse learners and strategies for addressing these needs.
- Understanding of appropriate local and state standards.
- Evidence/demonstration of use of technology to enhance student learning or willingness to learn.
- Demonstrated organizational skills and commitment to follow through on tasks.
- Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain excellent working relationships with students teachers school administrators support personnel and community members.
- Demonstrated ability to effectively communicate orally and in writing.
- Willingness to work in co-curricular program.
- Middle School teaching experience preferred.
- Ability and interest in working with underserved students.
DEMONSTRATED ABILITIES:
- Ability to communicate effectively with students staff parents and community.
- Ability to work cooperatively as a member of a building team.
- Ability to effectively manage middle school students.
- Ability to assume leadership role in curriculum development.
- Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the district/department may find appropriate and acceptable.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Teach Social Studies/History at the middle school level.
- Maintain classroom environment conducive to learning. Maintain classroom management.
- Coordinate classroom experiences with other staff members.
- Ability to develop direct and maintain co-curricular activities for middle school students.
- Knowing and utilizing research based instructional practices.
- Utilizing appropriate intervention strategies.
- Effectively modify curriculum and differentiate instructional practices to support student learning.
- Use data to modify instruction as needed. Assess student learning on a regular basis.
- Contribute as an active member with your PLC Team. Be a contributing member of the Frontier staff.
- Ability to work with staff and participate in site-based decision making process.
- Must have excellent attendance.
- Other duties as assigned.
