Job Description

Fire Prevention Specialist

Boeing Canada Winnipeg is seeking an experienced or senior Fire Prevention Specialist reporting to the Director of Facilities EHS Security & Fire Protection (S&FP) and IT working out of the Winnipeg Manitoba office. Join our team as a Fire Prevention Specialist where youll play a crucial role in ensuring safety and compliance!

In this dynamic position youll conduct audits and inspections deliver engaging training sessions and manage record control. Youll have the opportunity to review plans and codes for facility and equipment projects lead Site Emergency Response initiativesincluding evacuations and spill responses.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Oversees design development and implementation of fire protection and prevention policies programs processes and procedures for the purpose of safeguarding people property information and the environment while ensuring compliance with applicable government and company security and fire regulations.

  • Ensure employees clearly understand their individual and organizational responsibilities through development of education and training resources including fire safety tips.

  • Interfaces with the appropriate government agencies company management and employees customers vendors and suppliers on fire protection related issues.

  • Provides assistance to identify and mitigate the impact of company industry or government regulations or trends that may affect company risk management.

  • Collaborate with the Enterprise Fire Protection Engineer on emerging or systemic fire prevention issues.

  • Coordinates and conducts independent reviews inspections assessments and analyses of risk management actions and fire protection systems to sustain the fire safety repairs and upgrades.

  • Inspects various fixed fire protection equipment systems and apparatus to ensure operational readiness and with applicable codes standards and company procedures and completes appropriate documentation.

  • Responds to fire related emergency calls to mitigate hazardous situations. Acts as Fire Chief and determines and implements the appropriate course of action.

  • Leads spill response Team.

  • Reviews project plans and facility changes for fire code compliance; acts as a resource for fire code review and recommendations/improvements

  • Ability to work effectively in a cross-functional organization

  • Other responsibilities within the Security and Fire Protection organization.

This position is expected to be 100% onsite. The selected candidate will be required to work onsite at one of the listed location options.

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):

  • 3 years of experience in Fire Prevention

  • Knowledge of National Building Codes of Canada and National Fire Prevention Association (NFPA) Standards and the ability to effectively interpret them to problem-solve local issues/ obstacles.

  • Knowledge of project management skills.

  • Must be able to work up to 25% shift work (evenings or midnights)

  • Must be legally able to work in Canada

  • Individual must not pose a risk for safeguarding of controlled goods

  • Must be eligible to handle US export-controlled data

Preferred Qualifications (Education/Experience):

  • 7 years of experience in Fire Prevention

  • Experience with AutoCAD Microsoft office suite including Visio Access control technologies databases.

  • Familiarity with Factory Mutual (FM) Property Loss Prevention Data Sheets.

  • Ability to obtain a Public Services and Procurement Canada Reliability Status

Additional Information:

This requisition is for a locally hired position in Canada. The employer is Boeing Canada. Candidates must be legally authorized to work in Canada. Benefits and pay are determined by Canada and are not on Boeing US-based payroll. This is not an expatriate assignment.
