Job Description

Kinsale Insurance is seeking a highly motivated and service-oriented Desktop Support Specialist to join our growing IT team onsite in Richmond Virginia. This is an exciting opportunity to support a dynamic workforce by troubleshooting hardware and software issues maintaining IT infrastructure and ensuring seamless technology experiences across the company.

As a specialty lines insurance provider operating within the Excess & Surplus lines segment Kinsale underwrites a wide range of Property Casualty and Specialty insurance products. This role provides hands-on experience with device management system updates imaging and collaborative IT operations.

Key Responsibilities

Technical Support & Troubleshooting

  • Provide Tier 1 and Tier 2 support via phone email chat and in-person interactions

  • Create and manage helpdesk tickets; track issues through resolution

  • Troubleshoot hardware and software issues on desktops laptops and mobile devices

  • Collaborate with internal teams and external vendors for problem resolution

System Maintenance & Device Management

  • Deploy and maintain desktop/laptop systems and peripherals

  • Support system imaging updates and ongoing maintenance

  • Evaluate and test new hardware/software versions and recommend upgrades

  • Participate in an on-call rotation for remote support during evenings and weekends

IT Process Compliance

  • Adhere to established policies regarding change management asset tracking and information security

  • Maintain documentation of procedures and resolutions

Qualifications

  • Bachelors degree in Information Technology or related field relevant certifications or equivalent work experience

  • Strong customer service orientation with excellent verbal and written communication skills

  • Proficiency with Windows 10/11 Microsoft Office and desktop support tools

  • Experience with Active Directory WSUS SCCM Intune PDQ or similar management platforms

  • Familiarity with network technologies (DNS DHCP NSlookup) and cloud platforms (AWS or Azure)

  • Basic understanding of MacOS Linux and telephone systems; Intermediate MacOS experience is a plus

  • Ability to lift up to 30 lbs. route cables and position equipment in office environments
