Job Description
The Department of Chemistry at the University of Alaska Anchorage (UAA) invites applications from exceptional Organic Chemistry candidates for a tenure-track faculty position at the rank of assistant professor starting January 2025. This appointment comes with 9 months of annual support. The position is located in Anchorage Alaska.
The Department of Chemistry seeks candidates whose professional interests combine a pursuit of excellence in classroom instruction student engagement passion for inclusivity and working with a diverse population and a desire to meaningfully contribute to a developing department.
The UAA Chemistry Department offers undergraduate studies in general organic inorganic physical analytical and biochemistry. Our department serves an energetic Anchorage campus of 18000 students and is located in a diverse and stunningly beautiful city. Provide evidence of implementing student success initiatives and best practices in the classroom. Have a professional interest in chemical education with a record of peer-reviewed publication in the field. Applicants should have a demonstrated record of curriculum development implementing student success initiatives and best practices in their classroom instruction and student body engagement.
Minimum Qualifications:
Applicants must hold a Ph.D. in Organic Chemistry. Applicants must have experience teaching lower-division chemistry courses and the upper-division Organic Chemistry sequence as instructor of record.
Applicants should have prior experience teaching lower- and upper-division Chemistry courses as instructor of record. Have experience undertaking meaningful service activities including undergraduate mentorship. Demonstrate experience with curriculum development utilizing open educational resources (OER) and/or zero-textbook cost (ZTC) approaches.
Position Details:
This position is located on the University of Alaska Anchorage campus in Anchorage Alaska. Applicants must be able to relocate to Anchorage Alaska by the position start date. This is a full-time 9-month tenure track faculty position complete with both a competitive salary andfull employee benefits package. UA provides a generous compensation package that includes retirement options faculty time off (FTO) 12 paid holidays per year tuition waivers for employees and family members and affordable medical dental and vision care coverage. Faculty salaries are based on a variety of factors including education and experience.
