Based in the Child Youth & Emerging Adult Program the donor funded McCain Centre is focused on enhancing and improving the design delivery and effectiveness of mental health and substance use care systems services and policies for youth aged 6-25 through patient-oriented clinical and health services research. The McCain Centre combines established and innovative research techniques and includes a focus on ensuring youth voices are centred in their initiatives. Position Description
The McCain Centre is seeking a part-time contract (6 months) CH&E Associate to join our team. Reporting to the McCain leadership the CH&E Associate will support the knowledge translation (KT) and engagement activities of the Canadian Youth Mental Health Insight (CYMHI) Platform project. Other projects may also be assigned. The Insight Platform seeks to optimize youth mental health across Canada by providing a state-of-the-art informatics platform that supports knowledge and data integration open data and machine learning to enable knowledge exchange and innovation. One of the key objectives of Insight is to deliver accessible equity-informed training including online modules and interactive workshops. Training will focus on critical competencies such as youth and family engagement ethical use of data governance and data literacy. This education strategy supports building a dynamic learning community and strengthens capacity for data-driven innovation across the youth mental health system.
The CH&E Associates responsibilities will include support with knowledge translation and exchange activities including associated and tracking for KT and academic works within the Insight Platform and other research projects. The CH&E Associate will support in the development and delivery of education training and resources to Insight Platform members as well as research trainees staff and scientists. They bring support in the development of training and resources for core competencies in the conduct of the Insight Platform including youth engagement in research and evaluation sex and gender based analysis plus and ethical topics related to measurement and data. This may include supporting internal and external environmental scans and working collaboratively with subject matter experts and advisors to develop educational curriculum outlines and content to achieve deliverables. They may support internal consultations and governance meetings as well as internal and external outreach to raise awareness of research training opportunities and initiatives. Administrative and organizational support for programs and events may be provided as needed. This position is located at the Queen Street Site.
Duties include but are not limited to:
- Planning and coordination of key knowledge exchange activities specifically the Insight Platform training education and engagement project plans;
- Supporting the development of knowledge translation evaluation processes;
- Supporting the development and updating of communications and online resources for the Insight Platform and other projects;
- Compiling information and reporting on key performance indicators for the Insight Platform and other projects;
- Supporting the development of knowledge translation products including online courses outcome reports and plain language summaries;
- Information tracking;
- Creation and distribution of newsletters and other communication content;
- Reviewing and synthesizing literature and other duties including operational support to the Insight Platform and other projects.
The successful candidate will possess a bachelors degree with two years of related experience preferably in a non-profit or public sector environment. Familiarity with the addictions and mental health field youth mental health and substance use services would be an asset. Lived experience with mental health or substance use challenges and/or as a recipient of mental health and/or substance use services would also be an asset. Familiarity with health systems and population health research and with the concept and application of knowledge exchange are assets. The candidate must have demonstrated success in knowledge translation activities including training education and project management activities and working with diverse stakeholders. Experience with development and implementation of education and training materials and programs are required. Experience with delivering and providing education to teams and groups would be an asset. Superior organizational skills are required including the ability to utilize various software and online tools to organize and track information. Problem-solving skills prioritization skills sound judgment excellent time management skills and attention to detail is essential. Proven ability to set and meet priorities and deadlines and to handle multiple assignments in a complex high pressure and time sensitive environment. The vast majority of tasks are computer-based and require strong working knowledge and proficiency with common PC software applications (MS Word Excel PowerPoint Outlook) internet search engines social media and videoconferencing technologies. The successful candidate will possess the ability for self-directed learning and work as well as collaboration and teamwork. Demonstrated interpersonal skills are required to work collaboratively with a variety of people at all levels. Bilingualism (French/English) or proficiency in a second language would be an asset.

You have an understanding of systemic barriers and individual experiences in the sector and have the ability to work with stakeholders of diverse identities and ethno-racial and cultural backgrounds.
