Job Description

Join us at Project Kuiper where you will develop software for test systems on the Power Avionics team!

Project Kuiper is an initiative to launch a constellation of Low Earth Orbit satellites that will provide low-latency high-speed broadband connectivity to unserved and underserved communities around the world.

Export Control Requirement
Due to applicable export control laws and regulations candidates must be a U.S. citizen or national U.S. permanent resident (i.e. current Green Card holder) or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum.

Key job responsibilities
Develop software for automated hardware test execution in collaboration with design and operations teams.
Develop automation software for lab equipment like spectrum analyzers signal generators electronic loads power supplies network analyzers high-speed oscilloscopes and control of test chambers.
Support development and deployment of test systems for development debugging and production testing.
Provide operational support for software used in development and production testing.
Be a technical leader/role model; instilling best practices across the full development lifecycle.

A day in the life
As a Software Development Engineer you will develop and deliver test software for power avionics subsystems for both development and production testing. You manage and develop continuous delivery pipelines that streamline software development and ensure software reliability. You will participate in software design where engineers across disciplines work together to design systems that build confidence in the performance of satellite power avionics. You provide operational support for test software and work across teams to unblock production and testing issues.

You will work with a team of top-notch engineers and collaborate with multiple spacecraft design and integration teams. You should be comfortable with a high degree of ambiguity and relish the idea of solving problems that havent been solved at scale before. About the team
Our team is responsible for delivering production hardware subsystems for power delivery attitude control and propulsion control subsystems on the satellite bus. We take ownership and work hard to deliver the highest quality solutions to support the long-term success of Project Kuiper. This team consists of a broad set of technical backgrounds and we look forward to welcoming people that are excited to help us deliver broadband internet to underserved communities!

- 3 years of full software development life cycle including coding standards code reviews source control management build processes testing and operations experience
- Bachelors degree in computer science computer engineering electrical engineering or equivalent field.
- Experience with setup and/or configuration and automation of hardware such as lab equipment.
- Experience programming with at least one modern language such as Python Ruby Golang Java C C# Rust.

- 5 years of full software development life cycle including coding standards code reviews source control management build processes testing and operations experience
- Experience with control and automation of lab equipment such as spectrum analyzers signal generators electronic loads power supplies network analyzers high-speed oscilloscopes thermal chambers etc.
- Experience in development and test of satellite bus systems.
- Experience with low-level firmware development and integration.
- Experience with development of hardware in loop testing for automotive and/or aerospace systems.
- Experience developing software for manufacturing test systems utilized in production environments.
- Experience with Linux/Unix.
- Experience with CI/CD pipelines and build processes.
- Experience with PLM/MES/ERP software systems.

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $129300/year in our lowest geographic market up to $223600/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge skills and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company. Dependent on the position offered equity sign-on payments and other forms of compensation may be provided as part of a total compensation package in addition to a full range of medical financial and/or other benefits.
