Job Duties

Hiram W. Davis Medical Center located in Petersburg Virginia is a medical facility providing acute medical diagnoses skilled care intermediate care and long-term care to individuals receiving services in DBHDS facilities and within the community that have intellectual and/or developmental disabilities. Admissions to HWDMC are generally either permanent placement or special hospitalization. Patients typically come to HWDMC as a special hospitalization for step-down to stabilize post-surgery rehabilitation or long-term care.

Hiram Davis is currently recruiting for an Administrative Assistant to provide administrative support to the Clinical Director and Quality Director. This position serves as the receptionist for the Clinical and Quality Services greeting visitors providing information and receiving and making telephone calls pertaining to a wide variety of issues. Duties including scheduling appointments providing materials for meetings as well as preparing memorandums reports and correspondence.

Minimum Qualifications

Considerable knowledge of office procedures medical terminology timekeeping scheduling and computer technology.
Skills in Microsoft Office and excel.
Ability to organize work set priorities and work independently.
Ability to communicate effectively with all levels of staff and visitors to the department.
Demonstrated ability in maintaining smooth workflow of office activities ability to relate to programs policies and procedures.
Demonstrated written and oral communication skills along with the ability to problem resolution.

Additional Considerations

Post High school business courses including computer training and office management courses.
Expert typing skills including data entry and working knowledge of computer technology
Previous work experience within an office
Working in a medical/hospital setting
