Job Description
Salary Range: $41.33 - $58.09
Reporting to the Manager of Professional Practice the Clinical Education Facilitator (CEF) uses adult learning principles to develop educational plans and programs in response to individual unit program or corporate learning needs. Responsibilities include but are not limited to education consultation clinical leadership and research for the purposes of improving service care and delivery. The successful incumbent possesses outstanding communication and partnership skills and collaborates with managers to identify competencies relevant to job performance and facilitates initiatives in alignment with organization program and unit strategic priorities.
The CEF participates and collaborates with cross functional and multidisciplinary stakeholders in the development of standards policies and procedures to drive exceptional patient care and service delivery by critically analyzing and advocating evidence-informed practices. The physical demands of the role may include but are not limited to prolonged sitting standing walking bending lifting pushing and pulling. This position contributes to ensuring there is a safe environment for patients staff and visitors.
The Clinical Educator/Facilitator- Mental Health serves as a role model and leader supporting care that optimizes patient outcomes and experiences while enhancing the safety efficiency effectiveness and accessibility of care. This is achieved through the consistent application of best practice evidence-informed mental health care that is person-centered recovery-oriented and aligned with current clinical guidelines

Skills and Qualifications:
- Current Certificate of Registration with the College of Nurses in Ontario (CNO) as a Registered Nurse in good standing required
- Baccalaureate degree in Nursing required
- Masters degree in Nursing required
- A minimum of 5 years recent experience in Mental Health is required
- Experience with policy development and management required
- Commitment to maintain certifications relevant to the position
- Recent formal education and experience in adult education within the past 2 years required
- Demonstrated critical thinking and problem solving skills required
- Excellent interpersonal written and oral communication skills required
- Professional practice experience in program planning curriculum design learning technologies and facilitation skills within the past 2 years required
- Computer literacy and proficiency in MS Office and Meditech required
- Demonstrated ability to attend work on a regular basis required
- Canadian Nurses Association (CNA) certification in relevant specialty preferred
- Certificate in Nursing Education for the Practice Setting preferred
- Comprehensive knowledge of mental illness and substance use treatment.
- Demonstrated knowledge of Trauma-Informed Practice and Harm Reduction-oriented care.
- Experience caring for mental health patients from young adults to seniors.
- Recent formal education and experience in adult education within the past 2 years required
- Strong commitment to recovery principles and patient-centered care.
- Strong knowledge of quality metrics and expertise in leading change using recognized change management methodologies
- Excellent interpersonal written and oral communication skills.
- Advanced critical thinking process improvement/redesign and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent knowledge of the Mental Health Act and related legislation
- Computer literacy and proficiency in MS Office and Meditech required.
Key Responsibilities:
- Education and Staff Development:
- Assess learning needs and styles of clinical team.
- Design and deliver tailored educational programs.
- Develop curricula using contemporary educational theories evidenced based practice and best practices.
- Monitor and evaluate education outcomes providing timely feedback to staff.
- Facilitate learning plans in partnership with the manager of the unit.
- Collaboration and Communication:
- Engage with internal and external stakeholders for educational initiatives.
- Participate in hospital committees and groups to represent the CEF perspective.
- Collaborate with Clinical Managers on hiring and evaluation of nursing staff.
- Quality Improvement and Research:
- Support evidence-based practice and quality improvement initiatives.
- Conduct chart audits to ensure adherence to College of Nurses standards.
- Participate in critical incident reviews to ensure recommendations are followed through.
- Review and update standards of care based on emerging research and best practices.
- Crisis Intervention Training:
- Coordinate crisis intervention training collaborating with third-party vendors for trainer recertification.
- Ensure continuous improvement by coordinating with trainees.
- Co-chair the Code White Working Group to facilitate improvements within the hospital.
- May also include responsibilities related to the facilitation and delivery of crisis intervention training supporting staff in developing skills to respond effectively to behavioural health emergencies based on program needs and organizational priorities
