Special Programs Assistant

$4310 to $5352 Monthly

Under general direction the Special Programs Assistant assists in the implementation and administration of an assigned special program or project; performs various clerical and technical tasks related to the assigned program or project including working with program participants compiling data and preparing reports and other written materials; and collaborating with multiple stakeholders from various agencies.

The Well Qualified Candidate Will Possess the Following

Knowledge:
  • Concepts procedures strategies and resources related to assigned program subject matter area
  • Applicable county state federal provisions laws codes and regulations and program policies and procedures

  • Microsoft Office Word Excel and other Microsoft Office applications

Required Education and ExperienceEducation:High School Diploma or equivalent is required.

Experience:Two years ofgeneral clerical experience including one year working with at-promiseor foster youths in a Child Welfare and Attendance Student Support or similar programs.

Equivalency Provision:A valid California drivers license and availability of private transportation or ability to provide transportation between job sites may be required.


Hybrid remote schedules may be available. To ensure the health and safety of its staff LACOE may require employees to provide evidence of full vaccination against COVID-19.


Selection ProcessCandidates who meet the minimum requirements above will be invited to participate in an examination that may consist of a multiple-choice exam a performance evaluation and a structured interview.

Candidates who pass all exam parts are ranked according to overall exam score and placed on an eligibility (hiring) list. Vacant positions are filled from the top three ranks. Eligibility lasts for 12 months; however additional recruitment may occur under a separate bulletin with additional candidates being merged onto the eligibility list.
