The Department

The Master of Physician Assistant Practice (MPAP) Program at the University of Dayton was established in 2014 and is fully accredited by ARC-PA. The program admits an average of 40 students annually. Our 27-month seven-semester modular-based curriculum blends technology with traditional hands-on experience to provide students with the best possible experience in preparation for clinical practice. After completing four didactic semesters students complete nine clinical rotations during their clinical year Each rotation is four weeks long except for the elective rotation which is 10 weeks long. Graduating cohorts routinely benefit from graduation rates of 92% licensure examination ultimate pass rate of 100% and employment rates at or above the national average.

About Dayton
The Universitys 382-acre campus is located in Dayton Ohio which has a metropolitan area population of approximately one million. With a burgeoning downtown area 20 expansive metroparks hundreds of miles of paved walking/biking trails (top in the nation!) a bike share program and of course the Dayton Aviation Heritage and National Historical Park this is a great place for those who want a bit of everything with a low cost of living great schools and welcoming neighborhoods.

The Position
We are searching for 2 positions with variable start dates. These are 12-month non-tenure track Assistant Clinical Professor positions beginning November 1 2025 or earlier. The ideal candidate is expected to teach in multiple areas in our modular didactic curriculum that covers anatomy and physiology pharmacology history and physical examination procedures and clinical medicine. Clinical medicine topics include all organ systems and specific population-based topics. Faculty are also expected to participate in grading of hands-on assessments within other modules. Faculty members should be team-oriented individuals and will be responsible primarily for teaching and/or coordinating courses assessing student performance participating in the admissions process student mentoring/advising and program activities such as accreditation curriculum review and program evaluation. Candidates with an interest in physician assistant education are encouraged to apply.

Minimum Qualifications:

Graduate degree
For physician assistants: NCCPA certification and Ohio registration or eligibility for Ohio license
For medical doctors or doctors of osteopathy: Board certification and valid Ohio license or eligibility for Ohio license
Two years of clinical experience as a practicing clinician
Demonstrated ability to communicate clearly in a written format

Preferred Qualifications:

While not everyone may meet all preferred qualifications the ideal candidate will bring many of the following:

  • Doctoral degree or graduate degree in relevant field
  • Successful experience in one or more of the following:
    • Three or more years as a practicing clinician
    • Three or more years as a physician assistant educator which may include classroom or preceptorship
    • Accreditation Review Commission for the Physician Assistant (ARC-PA) accreditation process including development of a self-study
    • Admissions process for physician assistant program applicants
    • Working effectively as a member of a team
    • Mentoring and advising students
    • Teaching mentoring and/or providing medical care for people from socially and culturally diverse communities
  • Interest and willingness to develop and integrate experiential learning including technology use in the classroom.
  • Clinical experience and/or willingness to teach modular topics in gastroenterology neurology urology hematology and/or otolaryngology.
  • Demonstration of excellent time management and organizational skills
  • Effective interpersonal communication skills
  • Effective oral communication skills
  • Effective classroom management skills
  • Commitment to breadth of education including educating the whole person in the Marianist tradition of social justice and a commitment to service to the community university and profession
