Job Description

McCormick & Company Inc. a global leader in the spice flavor and seasonings industry is seeking a full-time Sanitation Technician who will report to a Quality Systems Manager. This new hire will work in Zatarains Plant located at82 1st Street Gretna LA.

Under the general supervision of the Quality Systems Manager the Sanitation Technician is responsible for ensuring the upkeep of the facility and production equipment.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Disassembling auxiliary line equipment for cleaning
  • Operation of floor scrubber in production/warehouse areas
  • Detailed cleaning of facility to include: sweeping washing floors and dusting
  • Operating a scissor lift to perform overhead cleaning
  • Completion of master sanitation scheduled tasks
  • Maintaining documentation of work completed
  • Maintaining tools and supplies for operations
  • Daily trash removal to include pallets drums and product waste
  • Performing environmental monitoring swabbing activities
  • Cleaning of equipment parts

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Utilize technology and proficient in software programs that track work completion
  • Ability to operate a forklift scissor lift and floor scrubber
  • Ability to sustain physical work
  • Good Communication Skills
  • Ability to follow through on assigned task with minimal supervision
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Basic knowledge of machine functions required
  • Ability to disassemble and assemble auxiliary production equipment
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Flexibility to work overtime (daily and weekends) required
  • Basic knowledge of uses versatility and limitations of cleaning devices and materials required
  • Basic knowledge of cleaning chemicals and their uses
  • Must be able to work at high elevation

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Experience working in food manufacturing
  • Experience operating boom lifts
