The East Central Ohio Educational Service Center is dedicated to enhancing education across school districts in a five-county region. Our mission is to provide high-quality support and resources to improve educational outcomes for all students through innovative programs professional development and direct are seeking a passionate and dedicated Teacher of the Visually Impaired to join our team and work with students in multiple school districts. This is a part-time opportunity but full-time work may be considered based on needs and location.Responsibilities:
Work with classroom teachers to implement engaging lesson plans and teaching tools tailored to meet the diverse needs of the visually impaired students Teach Braille literacy to students who need it ensuring they can access written materials Train students and teachers to use assistive technologies such as screen readers magnifiers and specialized software to access information and complete tasks Work with students to navigate their environment safely and independently using techniques like spatial reasoning cane skills and other mobility strategies Modify classroom materials and lessons to make them accessible for students with visual impairments such as providing large print or audio versions of texts. Advocate for students needs and ensure they have access to appropriate accommodations and resources within the school environment. Assess student progress and provide constructive feedback to enhance their development. Collaborate with colleagues and district leaders to improve educational practices Foster a positive environment that encourages student participation and growth Participate in IEP student progress and staff meetings as requiredRequirements Bachelors degree in Education or related field required Ohio Teaching license appropriate for instruction of the visually impaired Background free of any criminal history that would prevent employment in a public school setting Strong understanding of childhood development principles and effective teaching strategies. Prior experience working with children with special needs - visually impaired Excellent communication skills and ability to engage with students parents and staff effectively. Familiarity with learning technologies and classroom management techniques.
