Reporting to Supervisor Operations - Roads this position coordinates the day-to-day work activities of the operation and maintenance of the Roads System of The Town by scheduling activities to a team of Roads Operators in accordance with the annual work plan as well as providing direction and assistance to the Roads Operators. As the Supervisors assistant the Senior Operator is responsible with ensuring that the staff under their direction and guidance adhere to the policies procedures and values the Town has set in place and reporting any deficiencies and or incidents to the Road Supervisor. This is a working operator position.

How you contribute to our organization:

  • Plans schedules and assigns daily maintenance staff for operations and directing of the work to its final completion under the guidance of the Roads Supervisor
  • Utilizes the Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS) for Service Requests and Work Orders issued to the Roads Business unit. Making sure these Work Orders are completed properly with ELM and assets appropriately included.
  • Respond to Service Requests in a timely manner. This includes follow up with residents as required.
  • Performs all duties of Roads Operator and stand-by on a rotational basis.
  • Provide direction and assistance to staff in daily operations responding to inquiries resolving issues assigning work in accordance with work plan. Co-ordinate the work of multiple crews. Spend time onsite working along with staff.
  • Oversee staff for roadway maintenance activities including the reconstruction of sidewalk curbs catch basins storm sewers manholes road grading gravel/calcium application line painting street sweeping tree trimming brushing roadside grass cutting guidepost repairs ditching and winter maintenance.
  • Assist the Supervisor in scheduling of maintenance programs such as cold patch guide rail repair shouldering brushing gravel resurfacing dust suppression etc. in accordance with the annual plan or through prioritization and scheduling of reactive repairs received through the CMMS System. This includes the assignment of work orders.


What you bring to the team:

  • Requires successful completion of Grade 12 high school diploma or equivalent.
  • Requires a valid Class DZ licence and ability to submit a clean drivers abstract upon hire.
  • Requires current and valid Standard First Aid with CPR-C certification (or ability to obtain within 1 month of hire).
  • Completion of T.J Mahoney Construction and Maintenance modules AORS leadership courses and OGRA Snow School courses (or equivalent).
  • Heavy Equipment Operator Training/Certification for the following items preferred: snowplow motor grader backhoe loader street sweeper excavator.
  • Associate Roads Supervisor (ARS) certification preferred.
  • 3-5 years of experience as a Roads Operator required.
  • Must have knowledge and understanding of the Maintenance Standards under the Municipal Act.
  • Must be competent and have a sound knowledge in the operation of all assigned equipment in a safe and efficient manner.



Pay Rate: $33.18 - $41.47 plus employer paid benefits and OMERS pension plan
Hours: 40 hours per week
Start Date: July 21 2025
