Job Description
Amazon Devices & Services (D&S) is a division responsible for developing and managing Amazons consumer electronics portfolio and associated services. The team works on popular products like Echo smart speakers Fire TV Kindle e-readers Ring security devices and various smart home products.
The organization combines hardware engineering software development and cloud services to create integrated consumer experiences. Their work spans across multiple technical domains including AI/ML voice recognition IoT technologies streaming services device security and cloud computing all while focusing on delivering innovative solutions that impact millions of customers worldwide through Amazons device ecosystem.
Our charter is to provide customers and partners a compelling secure and robust experience with a steady flow of engaging new features throughout the lifetime of a device.
As a member of the team you will be working with business partners software development engineers and testers UI/UX designers to design implement test launch document and maintain complex software applications tools and systems. You will have significant influence on our overall strategy by helping define these product features drive the system architecture and spearhead the best practices that enable a quality product. You will learn a variety of cutting-edge technologies development processes and develop well-rounded skills such as leadership and effective project management. You will also mentor junior software development engineers.
Key job responsibilities
In this role you will
- Design develop implement test and document distributed software applications tools systems and services.
- Translate functional requirements into robust efficient supportable solutions that work well within the overall system architecture.
- Evaluate and make decisions around the use of new or existing software products and tools.
- Mentor junior engineers.
- Experience (non-internship) in professional software development
- Experience designing or architecting (design patterns reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems
- Experience in one of the objective oriented programming languages such as Java Kotlin C C Python Groovy
- Bachelors degree in computer science or equivalent
- Experience with full software development life cycle including coding standards code reviews source control management build processes testing and operations
- Experience in Android development
