Job Description

  • Employment Type: Part-time (0.4 FTE) Were open to shaping the role to match the availability and strengths of the right person.
  • Duration: Continuing
  • Remuneration: $123620 - $% Super Leave Loading (salary will be prorated)
  • Up to 10 days paid Cultural Leave annually for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander staff members
  • Location: UNSW Kensington Campus Sydney

This position is open to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander applicants only. UNSW has obtained an exemption under section 126 of the Anti-Discrimination Act 1977 (NSW) to designate and recruit professional and academic positions for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander persons only to fulfil UNSWs goal of an Indigenous workforce.

UNSWs School of Built Environment is a leading centre for education and research in architecture planning construction and urban design. Ranked among the top 25 globally in the field (QS 2025) the School is known for its focus on sustainable inclusive and future-focused cities.

The City Planning program is one of the longest running in Australia and is committed to social and environmental justice with strong engagement across government industry and communities. The School actively supports equity diversity and Indigenous knowledge and fosters a collaborative interdisciplinary academic culture.

Why this role matters
This role offers a unique opportunity to shape how future city planners engage with Indigenous knowledges Country and culturally respectful practices. As part of UNSWs Education Focused stream youll contribute to teaching excellence while embedding decolonising approaches and cultural perspectives in the curriculum. Youll help create a safe inclusive learning environment and support the goals of the UNSW ADA Indigenous Strategy which aims to grow Indigenous leadership and ensure genuine equity in the built environment and higher education.
