ABOUT THIS POSITION:

The team member will coordinate a small volunteer services program or assist a higher level volunteer director in the administration of a large volunteer program.

Essential Job Functions

  • Plans develops and implements volunteer programs.
  • Recruits selects orients trains and evaluates volunteers.
  • Speaks before community service groups to recruit new volunteers.
  • Acts as liaison between community service groups and County personnel.
  • Establishes and maintains volunteer program policies and procedures and ensures that volunteers follow facility rules and regulations.
  • Evaluates existing volunteer programs and selects new ones.
  • Conducts or supervises tours of the facility.
  • Attends staff meetings professional meetings and conferences.
  • Plans volunteer recognition ceremonies for individual volunteers and service groups.
  • Maintains attendance records of volunteers and compiles periodic activity reports.
  • Identifies suitable contributions and activities of individuals and groups based upon identified needs and supervises their distribution.
  • Supervise clerical personnel or volunteers as needed.

Requirements

REQUIREMENTS TO QUALIFY:
OPTION 1:
Two years of experience in a volunteer program. An associate degree* may be substituted for one year of the required experience.

OPTION 2:
One year of experience recruiting training teaching or coordinating a group of individuals.

The document should show the date the degree was conferred and be in English; if it is in a foreign language it must be translated and evaluated for equivalency to U.S. standards. If you performed work that differs from the duties described in your class specification and believe you qualify for this opportunity please provide verification via official documentation of additional responsibility bonus out-of-class bonus temporary assignment bonus or reclassification study with CEO Classification within ten (10) calendar days from the last day of filing. Employees do not need to submit such verification if they hold or have held a position that regularly performs functions in alignment with the requirements.


LICENSE:
A valid California Class C Driver License or the ability to utilize an alternative method of transportation when needed to carry out job-related essential functions.

PHYSICAL CLASS:
Physical Class II - Light: This class includes administrative and clerical positions requiring light physical effort that may include occasional light lifting to a 10-pound limit and some bending stooping or squatting. Considerable ambulation may be involved.

ASSESSMENT CONTENT:

This examination will consist of a multiple choice and/or simulation assessment weighted 100% assessing the following:

  • Deductive Reasoning
  • Reading Comprehension

Only candidates who achieve a passing score of 70% or higher will be placed on the eligible list.

MULTIPLE CHOICE AND/OR SIMULATION ASSESSMENTS ARE NOT REVIEWABLE BY CANDIDATES PER CIVIL SERVICE RULE 7.19.

TRANSFER OF TEST COMPONENT:
If you recently took identical components for other exams the test responses may be automatically transferred to this examination. This exam contains test components that might be used on future exams and your responses could be transferred to that exam.

TEST PREPARATION:
