The position of Warehouse Truck Driver is responsible for operating motor vehicles and delivery trucks up to a maximum G.V.W.R. 32000 lbs. Pick up load transport move transfer deliver and unload equipment mails material and school lunch. May perform warehousing duties; receive store issue and distribute supplies.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES: (These duties are a representative sample; position assignments may vary.)
Operate in safe manner motor vehicles and delivery trucks up to a maximum G.V.W.R. 32000 lbs. Observe and obey motor vehicle traffic laws of the State of Washington.
Perform: pre-trip and post trip motor vehicle inspection reporting defects damage and discrepancies; vehicle cleaning refueling and interim service; install and remove tire traction devices.
Move freight merchandise and equipment by lifting hand carrying and/or use of material handing equipment e.g. hand truck dolly pallet jack transport cart self-propelled fork lift truck etc.
Pick up load secure transport move transfer deliver unload a variety of items e.g. school supplies equipment material computers furniture mail food instructional materials and media laundry cleaning and maintenance supplies building materials musical instruments staging etc.
Deliver and/or transfer documents depositories transmittals public records and confidential materials.
Obtain signed acknowledgement from consignee for deliveries. Organize and submit daily delivery records and receipts.
Pick up and deliver to local area vendors and outlet stores.
May perform warehousing duties in lieu of delivery driving. Receive goods and materials store issue ship and distribute. Prepare shipping and receiving forms and reports. Take and prepare physical inventories.
Inspect merchandise for damage and completeness; make written notation of discrepancies with delivering agent shipper or consignee.
Attend required training courses and assist with training of employees.
Complete records and reports required by state and local district policy and procedures.
Observe and obey federal state and district safety rules and regulations.
Keep supervisor informed of changes discrepancies and items requiring attention.
Perform other related duties as required.
REPORTING RELATIONSHIPS:
Reports directly to and is supervised by the Warehouse Manager and Lead Driver.
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE (positions in this class typically require):
Required:
High school graduation or GED equivalent.
One year experience as a driver of a truck or commercial vehicle requiring special endorsement (such as Commercial Drivers License) or three years experience as passenger car driver.
Preferred:
Two years experience as a driver of a truck or commercial vehicle requiring special endorsement preferred.
LICENSING REQUIREMENTS (positions in this class typically require):
Required:
Must be able to operate motor vehicles up to 32000 lb GVWR with airbrakes.
CDL license class B within 60 days of hire.
Preferred:
CDL license class B.
KNOWLEDGE (position requirements at entry):
Motor vehicle operating rules and regulations for the State of Washington
Safe operation of materials handling equipment
Materials handling procedures
Handling perishables fragile and delicate items hard and soft goods securing and weight distribution of loaded cargo
Proper lifting and safety practices
Greater Seattle area grid system to find and locate addresses for routing and delivery purposes
SKILLS (position requirements at entry):
Ability to demonstrate safe operation of motor vehicles up to 32000 lb. G.V.W.R. with air brakes self-propelled materials handling equipment in accordance with training provided as per WAC
Ability to maintain delivery routes and schedules
Ability to perform sustained physical labor
Ability to demonstrate moving of heavy objects and lift items weighing up to 75 pounds very frequent lifting items weighing 45-55 lbs.
Ability to demonstrate communicative skills
Ability to understand and follow written and oral instructions
Ability to demonstrate basic mathematical skills
Ability to work independently and exercise good judgment
Ability to maintain effective interpersonal relations with students staff and public
Ability to adapt to changes in schedules or routine
Ability to be flexible and accommodate varied situations in a professional and courteous manner
Ability to move freight merchandise and equipment by lifting hand carrying and/or use of material handling equipment e.g. hand truck dolly pallet jack transport cart self-propelled fork lift truck etc.
Ability to maneuver and control a delivery truck up to maximum G.V.W.R. 28 000 all driving conditions
Ability to use all hand and/or foot operated controls and equipment found on a delivery truck
Ability to perform daily and routine vehicle inspections and necessary roadside services such as installing tire traction devices
Ability to perform all duties in accordance with all applicable Board policies and district and legal requirements
Ability to meet and maintain punctuality and attendance expectations
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Positions in this class typically require: stooping kneeling crouching reaching standing walking pushing pulling lifting finger dexterity grasping talking hearing seeing and repetitive motions.
Heavy Work: Exerting up to 100 pounds of force occasionally and/or up to 50 pounds of force frequently and/or up to 20 pounds of forces constantly to move objects. Incumbents may be subjected to moving mechanical parts odors chemicals extreme temperatures inadequate lighting workspace restrictions and intense noises.
CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:
Truck Driver Salary classification $33.39/hr to $37.10/hr ($ starting at $33.39/hr) 40 hours per week for a 261 day annual assignment. This position is covered by a collective bargaining agreement. Medical dental vision long-term disability and life-insurance eligibility is based upon 630 hours worked within a school year. Retirement provided through Washington State Department of Retirement Systems. Other benefits include vacation and paid holidays.
