Our client is known for delivering high-quality developments across Hampshire and the surrounding areas. Due to ongoing expansion they are now seeking an experienced Bookkeeper to join their finance team.
This is a fantastic opportunity to work in a supportive professional environment within a business that values precision collaboration and continuous improvement. The role offers flexible working arrangements and can be structured as either full-time or part-time with a minimum of 3 days per week.
Key Responsibilities:
- Carry out day-to-day bookkeeping duties including accounts payable/receivable bank reconciliations and maintaining the general ledger
- Manage the monthly CIS (Construction Industry Scheme) returns ensuring full compliance with HMRC guidelines
- Process subcontractor payments and apply CIS deductions accurately
- Prepare and file VAT returns on time and in line with current legislation
- Assist with month-end close procedures and support the production of management accounts
- Liaise with project managers to monitor job costs and contribute to accurate financial reporting
- Maintain well-organised up-to-date and audit-ready financial records
Requirements
- AAT Level 4 qualified or equivalent bookkeeping/accounting qualification
- At least 5 years of relevant bookkeeping experience ideally including 2 years within the construction industry
- Strong understanding of CIS compliance and regulations
- Proficient in Sage accounting software and Microsoft Excel
- Excellent organisational skills and attention to detail
- Strong communicator with the ability to manage multiple tasks independently
- Comfortable working both autonomously and as part of a close-knit team

Recent and relevant bookkeeping experience, including preparing and submitting VAT returns and reconciling control accounts. Experience in preparing management accounts is desirable, but training will be provided. AAT qualified. Xero certified. Hands-on, diligent, and able to demonstrate excellent client interpersonal skills. Strong organisational skills and ability to multitask. Keen attention to detail. Proficient in Excel, Word, and Outlook. Team player with a strong work ethic and drive. Ability to work independently and meet tight deadlines.
