Assistant Coach / Director of Womens Basketball OperationsTime Type:
Full timePosition Summary and Qualifications:
The position is designed to support the Head Womens Basketball and Assistant Womens Basketball Coaches in all operational aspects of the womens basketball program in a manner consistent with the policies of Saint Josephs University the NCAA and Atlantic 10 and in a manner designed to optimize the on- and off-court success of the program. Under the direction of the Head Coach the Assistant Coach will also be responsible for coaching and evaluating current and prospective student athletes.Essential Responsibilities:
Arrange all team travel in a manner consistent with budget and strategically designed to optimize academic and athletic performance (including procurement of ground transportation both local and at the site of road competition) commercial and charter air flights and lodging; create and execute a plan for the transportation and lodging of student-athletes over University breaks
Work closely with Sport Performance staff to plan and procure all meals related to practice and competition home and on the road in a manner consistent with budget and strategically designed to optimize academic and athletic performance
Assist coaches and other program staff with all aspects of recruiting (including mailers home visits unofficial and official visits)
Assist with organizational aspects of basketball camps including securing facilities apparel campers staff meals housing and other requirements
Oversee the program relationship with the equipment staff to ensure the student-athletes have appropriate shoes apparel and other practice and competition equipment and apparel; procure ancillary equipment as needed (e.g. practice props water bottles); ensure that basketball training equipment is in working order (e.g. shooting guns)
Supervise and develop student managers in their duties involving equipment apparel travel practice preparation etc.
Ensure that womens basketball coaches and student-athletes participate in community service in a manner compatible with student-athlete academic and athletic performance; locate appropriate opportunities and ensure the planning and executing of all service
Serve as the liaison to the Ticket Office on all home and away ticket needs for student-athletes coaches support staff program alumni and campus partners
Assist Athletics Communications staff with social media accounts and engagement as needed
Serve as one of the primary contacts to Womens Basketball Program Alumni through various forms of communication and by encouraging attendance at games and events
Assist in planning womens basketball program special events including season ticket holder events annual banquet season-opening event alumni events
Serve as a staff liaison to central athletics administration working closely with the sport administrator and Director of Athletics including on matters related to the program budget
Assist with organizational aspects of practice preparation and serves as the liaison to the facilities and game management staff
Oversee and coordinate day-to-day operational scheduling including practices meetings classes travel and events for the program
Perform other duties as requested or assigned by Head Coach or other staff members
Coaching and Recruiting
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelors Degree (*candidates without a bachelors degree can submit a statement explaining how relevant experience substitutes for the degree)
1-4 years of experience in an Intercollegiate Athletic Department as a student (including a student-athlete) graduate assistant or employee is required
Strong problem-solving and critical thinking skills
Detail-oriented organized and an ability to work in a fast-paced environment
Ability to work both independently and as part of a team
Must be self-directed and motivated and be able to work independently and work under pressure
Must have strong interpersonal and communication skills to interact with a diverse group of internal and external constituents
Adherence to NCAA and member conference rules and regulations
The successful candidate will be subject to a pre-employment background check
The successful candidate may be required to obtain CPR motor vehicle safety certification and other job-related certifications

Physical Requirements and/or Unusual Work Hours:
Occasional need to lift move and otherwise prepare equipment and facilities in preparation for practice competition and special events
Position requires frequent evening and weekend hours
