TITLE: Senior Mechanical Engineer Team Lead

POSITION REPORTS TO: Director of Hardware Engineering
POSITION SUMMARY:
We are looking for a motivated Senior Level Mechanical Engineer interested in leading the development and innovation of electro-mechanical solutions for Aethons Automated Mobile Robots. As a team lead you will be able to exercise your creativity and contribute while leading a small team of experienced engineers and coordinate cross functionally to design and develop new products. Youll also have the opportunity to design and implement manufacturing improvements to legacy products. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Lead the mechanical design of Automated Mobile Robotic systems from concept to production
Conduct concept feasibility studies build assemble and validate prototype designs
Work cross functionally and with program management to build and drive project schedules
Lead the team through the design and development process creating detailed design requirements and specifications engineering validation design validation and production validation testing and analysis
Conduct review and approve work through a robust review process to ensure high quality and reliability
Generate detailed component and assembly drawings to be used in manufacturing and with our contract manufacturing partners
Shape and execute the selection and validation of major system components ensuring they meet design criteria while working within BOM cost availability component life and reliability constraints
Meet with suppliers manufacturing representatives and potential strategic partners to build engineering relationships
REQUIRED CAPABILITIES/QUALIFICATIONS:
Proven technical leadership capabilities
Minimum of 10 years of engineering experience
Expert in advanced part and assembly modeling techniques using Solidworks and PDM
Understand safe design stresses in both static and cyclically loaded components
Proficiency in Finite Element Analysis (FEA) as it related to structural loading
Past success in delivering new products to market from concept to production
Experience in creating product manufacturing and assembly drawings
Experience working with PLM software packages
Proficiency with PCs in a Windows environment including Microsoft 365
Strong interpersonal and communication skills written and verbal
DESIRED CAPABILITIES/QUALIFICATIONS:
Experience designing or working with Automated Mobile Robotic platforms
Direct experience with mechanical and electromechanical components such as bearings geartrains DC motors encoders sensors actuators etc.
Fluent in manufacturing techniques in both prototype and production environments such as sheet metal forming milling/turning 3D printing thermoforming injection molding material plating options and the cost/benefit of using one over another.
Familiar with designing slip and press fit components as well as understanding Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing and overall tolerance stack-ups
Familiarity working with Linux and ROS based systems
