University Health Services (UHS) is a unit within the Division of Student Life and is a nationally accredited (AAAHC) multispecialty outpatient clinic dedicated to meeting students as they are where they are and how they are then collaborating with them to build mental and physical resiliency so they can take on the world! This is an exciting opportunity to join University Health Services (UHS) medical staff in a clinical leadership position. This position will have a primary focus on providing acute medical care for UO students. A secondary focus will be to serve as lead for the acute care team providing oversight and support for clinical systems and processes and serving on the medical staffs leadership team.
The acute care clinic is designed to deliver excellent effective evidence-based triage and same-day care for UO undergraduate and graduate students with acute illnesses and injuries. The clinic is staffed by medical providers registered nurses and medical assistants working as a cohesive team with a goal to get students feeling better so they can take on the world!
The acute care team functions within the broader Medical Services team which also includes primary care sports medicine and specialty services (gynecology endocrinology and psychiatry). UHS additionally has counseling physical therapy dental pharmacy diagnostic services and public health teams. This multi-disciplinary setting provides a high level of support and collegiality for the medical providers within UHS.
This position will report to the Medical Director and serve as a member of the UHS Medical Staff a group of providers who are friendly smart and supportive.
This position requires the successful completion of a criminal background check and routine screening of Medicaid and Medicare Exclusion Lists. Employee loses eligibility for employment if on the List of Excluded Individuals and Entities (LEIE) and/or System of Award Management (SAM). In addition employees must follow Compliance with UHS policies regarding tuberculosis screening measles and mumps (MMR) seasonal flu hepatitis B and other immunization requirements.
Graduate of an accredited medical or osteopathic school
M.D. or D.O licensure by the Oregon Medical Board or ability to obtain the licensure by the agreed upon start date of employment
Maintains ABMS-approved board certification in Family Medicine Internal Medicine or Emergency Medicine
Ability and experience in practicing a broad scope of primary care medicine and/or emergency medicine
Experience in ambulatory care outpatient medicine and/or emergency medicine
Valid Drug Enforcement Administration certification for prescription of controlled substances or ability to obtain by first day of employment
Current American Heart Association (AHA) CPR certification or the ability to obtain by first day of employment
Experience with and/or commitment to working effectively with individuals from diverse backgrounds in support of an inclusive and welcoming environment
Three years of experience in clinical setting with an emphasis on acute care
Three years of experience in providing clinical leadership within a healthcare setting preferably with an acute care focus
Experience working in a collaborative role within a leadership team
Experience providing clinical direction and education to support triage nursing systems
Experience in a college health clinical setting
