Job description
Summary: A certified Radiation Therapist is responsible for administering radiation treatments to veterinary patients under the supervision of a veterinary oncologist or specialized veterinarian the therapist ensures the safe and effective delivery of radiation treatments monitors patient response and maintains safety standards for staff and animals.
Qualifications:
Education & Certification:
Certification in Radiation Therapy Technology by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologist
Experience:
Minimum of 1 year of experience as a radiation therapist
Skills & Abilities:
Ability to work in a fast-paced and dynamic environment while maintaining high standards of patient care.
Compassionate and clear communication with both clients and team members.
Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
Ability to exhibit compliance with strict safety regulations.
Strong understanding of animal anatomy radiation physics and safety protocols.
Excellent time management communication and detail-oriented skills
Promote a welcoming atmosphere with a teamwork mindset
Possess initiative follow through and a can do attitude.
Professional and courteous
Responsibilities including but not limited to:
Administrative work as needed
Operate and maintain radiation therapy equipment adhering to safety protocols to prevent exposure to staff and animals.
Review treatment plans provided by veterinary oncologists and ensure accurate delivery of prescribed radiation doses.
Maintain detailed records of treatment sessions doses administered and patient responses.
Collaborate with veterinary medical team to develop and adjust treatment protocols as needed.
Educate pet owners about the radiation treatment process potential side effects and post-treatment care.
Ensure that all safety and radiation protocols are strictly followed to protect staff pet owners and patients.
Perform routine maintenance and quality assurance checks on radiation equipment.
Stay informed about advances in radiation therapy techniques and veterinary oncology practices through continuing education.
Other duties as assigned.
Patient Care & Client Interaction:
Provide instructions to pet owners as needed including preparation for treatment and recovery after sedation if applicable.
Team Collaboration:
Work closely with veterinarians other technicians and staff to ensure smooth workflow
Maintain clear and accurate records of all imaging procedures including images findings and any necessary follow-up care.
Participate in regular training and professional development to stay current with advancements in veterinary radiology and imaging practices.
Identify areas for improvement and make recommendations to the leadership team.
Contribute to resource utilization and department success projects as needed.

Must be able to lift 45lbs. alone and 150lbs. with assistance
Ability to lift/bend/stand for extended periods of time
Exposure to patient illness death zoonotic diseases and hazardous materials
