SUMMARY:
Assists Mechanic/Technician/Pipefitters in the activities of the department including Meter reading maintenance of pumping stations and property construction and repair of mains lines and manholes video inspection sealing and similar duties. May be exposed to storm events as well as traffic toxic chemicals and electrical hazards below-ground structures and trenches.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Assists in the maintenance of pumping stations water tanks outfalls and equipment. Assists in troubleshooting for malfunctioning equipment collection system and distribution system as directed. Maintains the property surrounding the pump stations.
- Reads meters records water and sewer usage both on a predetermined schedule and when assigned: deals directly with property owners when needing to enter homes. Checks meters when a malfunction is suspected repairs and replaces meters and installs outside readers.
- Assists with masonry work Video inspections and sealing of sewer lines manhole inspections leak detection hydrant flushing grease and root control sewer cleaning and the like.
- Operates equipment the department has including pumps compressors generators rodding machines tractors lawn equipment vehicles snow removal equipment etc.
- Mark out of water sewer mains and services.
- Assists Mechanic/Technician/Pipefitters with maintenance repairs and emergency repairs of the distribution and collection system.
- Must be available for scheduled and emergency overtime.
- Performs other duties of a similar nature and complexity as directed.
REQUIRED*:
High school diploma or equivalent Commercial Drivers License (with air brake and Tanker endorsement) Minimum of 2 years of related experience.
Preferred but not required: Grade 1 Water Distribution License; Grade 1 Collection License
