General Statement:Provide Art education by acquainting students with the fundamentals of Art practices and the foundation for future study in Art related fields through engaging hands-on curriculum and encouraging the development of problem-solving skills critical thinking and creative/innovative reasoning.
Responsibilities:
- Provides rigorous and relevant instruction on pre-approved hands-on curriculum in the content area.
- Integrates soft-skill instruction into competency-based content area activities.
- Provides evidence of project-based learning.
- Maintains a strong instructional focus utilizing the elements of effective instruction.
- Communicates a high level of expectation to students.
- Communicates clear learning goals and expectations to students.
- Adapts instruction to meet the needs of all students.
- Sequences content appropriately.
- Embeds schools student learning objectives in instruction.
- Posts course syllabus and appropriate materials on class website.
- Maintains and posts accurate and up to date grades.
- Uses appropriate level of questioning to promote understanding.
- Relates lesson content to prior and future learning.
- Addresses various learning styles.
- Requires students to analyze and apply knowledge.
- Requires Students to summarize information in written and/or verbal form.
- Conducts ongoing assessments for learning.
- Collaborates with core content teachers on common course planning integration and alignment.
- Attends all relevant professional development opportunities.
- Displays enjoyment humor and enthusiasm for teaching and the expectation that students enjoy .
- Supports District goals.
- Reports student progress to parents and students.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Experience:
- Three to five years ofteaching in Art education is preferred.
- Teaching techniques that meet the diverse needs of students.
- Human relations leadership and conflict management.
- Education:
- Bachelors Degree required.
- Certification & Licensing:
- Must meet the current RI Department of Education requirements and or certifications.
