Job Description

WDAF-TV/Fox4 in Kansas City is seeking a highly organized and discreet Human Resources Business Administrator to join our team. This role is a vital trusted partner acting as a liaison between station leadership corporate teams and our valued employees. Reporting directly to the Vice President & General Manager (VP/GM) youll be instrumental in managing critical HR functions and overall business operations.

As the Human Resources Business Administrator you will be responsible for a wide range of duties including:

Human Resources & Employee Relations:

  • Maintain accurate and confidential employee personnel and HR files.
  • Administer all aspects of employment processes including benefits onboarding/orientation leave management and payroll.
  • Ensure EEO compliance and prepare relevant reports.
  • Manage workers compensation and auto insurance claims.
  • Assist management with effective and consistent performance management.
  • Foster effective employee communication across the station.
  • Organize and direct station employee events.
  • Employee and Labor Relations:
    • Respond to union information requests.
    • Provide assistance and advice to managers and supervisors on contract interpretation and administration (union contracts and personnel policies).
    • Participate in Collective Bargaining Agreement meetings.
    • Manage compliance and grievance processing for both represented and non-represented staff.
    • Represent management in employee disputes and grievance proceedings.
    • Mediate and negotiate resolution of complaints with employee representatives.

Business Administration & Operations:

  • Plan direct coordinate or liaise with various administrative services.
  • Manage records and information systems.
  • Handle all aspects of reports and accounts payable.
  • Distribute monthly financial reports.
  • Liaise effectively with Senior Leadership and Corporate staff.
  • Manage all employee vendor and trade contracts.
  • Oversee the station fleet and employee gas cards.
  • Attend and contribute to weekly department head meetings.
  • Manage facilities planning and maintenance.
  • Purchase and stock station supplies.
  • Assist in the planning forecasting administering and controlling of budgets.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the VP/GM.

Qualifications:

  • Education & Experience: Bachelors degree is preferred plus 3-5 years of experience in Human Resources Business Administrator or Office Manager capacity is preferred.
  • Interpersonal Skills:
    • Exceptional interpersonal savvy relating well with all people.
    • Ability to build rapport and effective relationships using diplomacy and tact.
    • High level of confidentiality is crucial with access to critical private information.
    • Approachability; easy to talk to and a good listener.
  • Problem-Solving & Decision-Making:
    • Enjoys working hard and is action oriented.
    • Uses logic and methods to solve difficult problems seeking input from various sources.
    • Makes sound decisions based on a mixture of analysis wisdom experience and judgment.
  • Organizational Skills:
    • Excellent planning and organizational abilities; prioritizes and plans work activities effectively.
    • Manages time efficiently and develops realistic action plans.
  • Leadership & Coaching: Confident and assertive when providing coaching guidance or direction to others.
