What youll be doing
As the leader on the Operational Risk Management Personal & Business Banking Commercial Banking & Wealth Management Operational Risk team you will have the opportunity to make a significant impact by overseeing and challenging operational risk exposures in our core Canadian Banking portfolio. As Senior Director Operational Risk Management you will work closely with business leaders to ensure that all aspects of the operational risk management and control framework requirements are met. You will provide operational risk and control framework-related advice and effective challenge to business lines proactively monitoring emerging risks and external events overseeing control and deficiency management and staying current on regulatory changes and industry best practices.

How youll succeed
Effective challenge Fulfill the role of CIBCs second line of defense in the management of operational risk by challenging the business lines operational and control inputs and outputs. You will be engaged in the CIRA (Change Initiative Risk Assessment) process Incident reporting Risk Reviews RCSAs Emerging Risks and Scenario Analysis for assigned LOBs. You will provide guidance in the determination of the materiality of control deficiencies and ensure they are appropriately classified aggregated reported on and disclosed. You will monitor that assigned LOBs have all key control assessment processes in place.
Promote a strong risk culture Establish strong working relationships with LOBs in the portfolio with a goal to develop heightened awareness of the importance of operational risk assessment early identification of such risks and the need to establish appropriate controls and tools to monitor operational risks. Share your knowledge by providing operational risk and control framework-related advice to business lines.
Develop an independent perspective Provide ongoing oversight and assessment of CIBCs operational risk exposure. This will include conducting in-depth detailed and complex risk analysis staying current on regulatory changes and industry best practices to assess their impacts to LOBs and ensure requirements are met.
Who you are
You can demonstrate experience in Risk Management. You have broad and in-depth prior experience with managing operational risk in CIBC businesses and operations an advanced degree in Business or related field and/or relevant years of equivalent professional experience.
