Who are we looking for

Were looking for a Cost Controller to join our Delivery Project Services (DPS) team in Melbourne Australia.

The Cost Controller is involved in the delivery and presentation of Project Controls on assigned project and operations including Project Reporting Estimating Cost Engineering Planning and Scheduling and Change Management.

This role is a mid-profession position that will be provided with ongoing training and guidance on the various disciplines of project controls. The role reports to the Cost Engineering Functional Lead for day-to-day project matters in a matrix team supporting DPS project managers and delivery team.

Working with an energetic and high performing team this position offers a variety of work and will see you involved in:

  • Work closely with the Project Controls Manager(s) and other Project Management Team (PMT) members Contractors and key stakeholders to implement and manage Project Controls services for the project and / or GHD Operations
  • Assist in developing project data dashboards presentations and analysis
  • Utilise the Clients SAP system to raise purchase requisitions receipt goods and services and extract project budget and cost data
  • Advise the Project Leads / Operations Manager of areas of actual or potential problems
  • Assist in developing presentation of project detail budgets from estimates
  • Prepare reporting dashboards using MS excel and Power BI
  • Assist in the updating schedules preparation of estimates
  • Monitoring analysis and reporting on Project deliverables
  • Flag unfavourable trends in a timely manner so that project management have an opportunity to take corrective action to influence the project outcome
  • Assist to ensure financial compliance with GHDs and/or Client systems
  • Maintain commercial awareness of contract packages through understanding of awarded work scope payment terms commercial conditions potential variations project strategies and interfaces with other contracts
  • Ensure all finance related administrative issues are raised and actioned in a timely manner
  • Support preparation of the reports by compiling information from disparate sources including Contractors as well as interpretation and analysis of reports produced by others.

What you will bring to the team:

  • Degree in Engineering or Quantity Surveying preferred but not a pre-requisite
  • 3-6 years relevant experience in Project Services / Cost Engineering experience with engineering contracting or consultancy organisations preferably with experience on execution projects
  • High degree of competency with data analysis will be preferred
  • Experience with Power BI and Data Visualisation
  • Some experience with scheduling and planning software (P6) preferred but not a pre-requisite
  • Familiarity with project controls software particularly Prism including cost control and scheduling packages would be favourable however training will be provided.
