Job Description

Project Kuiper is Amazons low Earth orbit satellite broadband network. Its mission is to deliver fast reliable internet to customers and communities around the world and weve designed the system with the capacity flexibility and performance to serve a wide range of customers from individual households to schools hospitals businesses government agencies and other organizations operating in locations without reliable connectivity.

Export Control Requirement: Due to applicable export control laws and regulations candidates must be a U.S. citizen or national U.S. permanent resident (i.e. current Green Card holder) or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum.

The Plexus Lab team owns the Kuiper Software lab and provides lab as a fully managed service. We make it possible to develop build and test the code on real hardware.

In this role you will design build and maintain the lab infrastructure. Your role will involve designing integrating and providing continuous support for complex Radio Frequency (RF) satellite and ground based hardware in the loop (HIL) testing environments.

A key aspect of your position will be serving as a liaison between software teams and hardware teams. In this capacity you will establish a healthy testing environment while maintaining high standards as software moves through Design Verification (DVT) Acceptance Testing (ATP) Qualification Testing (QTP) and live payload integration.

Key job responsibilities
* Technical Expertise in RF testing equipment (VSA VSG GNSS simulators switches) RF up/down converters time-varying channel emulation and automated testing environments.
* Integration and continuous support of complex RF devices testing equipment and Linux based software systems.
* Strong RF problem-solving and troubleshooting abilities with the added ability to work individually and as a member of a team.
* Experience managing software development including integrating troubleshooting and diagnosing RF related software bugs.
* Strong project management communication skills and technical writing.
* Experience with RF testing equipment automation using SCPI and a various RF equipment Python libraries like PyVisa.

A day in the life
The successful applicant will be experienced in keeping technical infrastructure running smoothly and balancing high priority issues. You should be comfortable taking on ambiguous challenges like setting up new pre-production hardware for the first time. You should be able to define SOPs metrics and alarms to keep equipment and test infrastructure highly available and expand the teams capabilities over time. You will be invaluable to enabling the team to move quickly and confidently with robust verification frameworks that scale with our systems.

About the team
The Kuiper Plexus team owns labs tools and software for verifying the quality of our networking equipment before release. This software will be operating both on the ground and in space. The team raises our high quality bar before our software reaches customers.

- 2 years of non-internship professional software development experience
- Experience programming with at least one modern language such as C C# Java Python Golang PowerShell Ruby
- Bachelors degree in Computer Science Computer Engineering Electrical Engineering or similar technical field.
- 2 years of experience in any of the following: test lab support operational hardware support
- 2 years of experience with test automation debugging building test tools and testing frameworks
- 2 years of experience working with Linux based systems
- 2 years of experience in computer networking (admin level)

- - Highly autonomous very detail oriented and willing to learn new skills
- - Excellent written and verbal communication skills and an ability to interact efficiently with peers and customers is required
- - The desire and ability to work in a fast paced collaborative environment is essential
- - Experience in communicating with users other technical teams and management to collect requirements evaluate alternatives and develop processes and tools as needed to support the organization
- - Knowledge of industry standard test automation tools and experience in developing product test harnesses and instrumenting products to gather test results
- - Experience creating and expanding powerful automated testing tools and frameworks

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $116300/year in our lowest geographic market up to $201200/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge skills and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company. Dependent on the position offered equity sign-on payments and other forms of compensation may be provided as part of a total compensation package in addition to a full range of medical financial and/or other benefits.
