Graduate Assistant for Student Success Center
The graduate assistant supports a variety of programs and services within the Student Success Center with a focus on proactive student success initiatives retention efforts and services for at-risk students.
Candidates will be invited to demonstrate a willingness to support the Christian Catholic Benedictine mission of the University of Mary.
Essential Roles and Responsibilities Include:
- Academic Warning advising GRIT Canvas management progress tracking
- FYE 122 Lab (Presidents Seminar) coordination attendance grading communications
- Peer Mentoring Program coordination mentor-student engagement support for at-risk students
- General support for Academic Advising Services Student Accessibility Services Career Services TRIO and other retention activities
- Recruitment training and coordination of Peer Leaders for Welcome Week
- Assist with preparation for spring SOAR events
Desired Minimum Qualifications Education and Experience include:
- Bachelors degree required; degrees in education psychology or another related field are preferred
- Full-time enrollment in a graduate program - must meet eligibility requirements for admission to Graduate Studies at the University of Mary
- Prior experience in mentoring teaching or providing student support services is highly preferred
- Upholds andsupports the Christian Catholic Benedictine mission of the University of Mary
- Supports the ongoing implementation of Ex Corde Ecclesiae the apostolic constitution on Catholic colleges and universities
- Builds a culture of ready and earnest hospitality inthe Office of Academic Affairs and throughout the university in accord with Saint Benedicts admonition that all be received as Christ
Knowledge and Skills:
- Familiarity with Canvas or other learning management systems
- Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing including effective presentations to groups professional reports and other communications using Word Outlook PowerPoint Excel and Publisher as well as the ability to use computers projectors and other electronic tools
- Ability to prioritize workload perform work duties independently and meet deadlines
- Ability to work effectively with students from diverse cultures and backgrounds students who have a disability nontraditional students and other at-risk students.
