Job Description
The Part-time(2 years) Fixed Term Practical Nursing Assistant Instructor is responsible for:
- Providing instruction evaluation and academic support with an emphasis on cultural awareness and the promotion of an inclusive learning environment.
- Maintaining Nursing Assistant curriculum and all other aspects of the training program required by the Minnesota Department of Health (MDH).
- Participating in MDH meetings or trainings and be active in state wide nursing assistant training organizations.
- Maintaining Practical Nursing curriculum that aligns with the Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing standards and the Minnesota Board of Nursing standards.
- Maintaining technical knowledge in the field through active participation in professional development organizations and events.
- Promoting and recruit programs within and outside of the College.
- Attending semesterly program and advisory board meetings.
- Teaching off campus clinical courses for the Practical Nursing program.

Minimum Qualifications
Education Requirement
- Diploma or associate degree in nursing.
Occupational Experience Requirement
- Four full-time years (or equivalent) of verified related paid work experience of direct patient care one year must be in long term care.
Recency Requirement
- One year of this work experience shall be within the five years immediately preceding the date of application for the credential field. The recency requirement shall be waived if the individual has two years of successful full-time (or equivalent) postsecondary teaching experience in the credential field within the last five years.
Professional Requirement
- Current Minnesota Registered Nurse (RN) license.

Preferred Qualification
Education
- Bachelors degree in nursing or a graduate degree in support of the field of nursing and/or education with a Bachelors degree in Nursing if the graduate degree is not in Nursing.
- A nursing program director must hold a graduate degree in nursing nursing administration nursing education public health nursing or a nursing clinical specialty
Occupational Experience
- Two full-time years (or equivalent) of verified related paid work experience as a registered nurse at the professional level.
- As a registered nurse at the professional level experientially qualified to accomplish the mission goals and expected student and faculty outcomes; including experiential preparation in the areas the faculty will teach.
Recency
- One year of this work experience shall be within the five years immediately preceding the date of application for the credential field. The recency requirement shall be waived if the individual has two years of successful full-time (or equivalent) postsecondary teaching experience in the credential field within the last five years.
Professional Requirement
- Current unencumbered licensure as a registered nurse (RN) with current registration in Minnesota.
- Other Requirement:Compliance with clinical affiliate policies for attending on-site clinical teaching assignments.

Work Shift (Hours / Days of work)
- The faculty member in this position will be assigned 12.8 credits over the academic year corresponding to a minimum of 0.4 FTE.
- Courses will be scheduled in collaboration with the associate dean and could be taught various days and times Monday-Friday at either the Brooklyn Park or Eden Prairie campus. Courses will also be taught at community clinical sites.
