Your tasks

Embedded in highly dynamic and competitive research environment with multiple national and international collaborations our group is focused on understanding fundamental aspects of cancer using high-throughput data and developing advanced computational models. We analyze genome transcriptome and proteome data acquired with state-of-the art novel technologies from massively parallel sequencing (whole genome whole exome and transcriptome sequencing) single cell sequencing approaches and single cell proteomics. Our projects are centered on a functional understanding of molecular processes that drive initiation and progression of cancer. We employ genomics to study genome profiles and cellular networks that modulate tumor evolutionary processes and we seek to validate findings in vitro or in vivo. We thus aim to better understand the biological impact of genome alterations and molecular profiles identified in these malignant cells and their evolution during tumor progression. A particular focus of our work is to combine computational biology as well as cell biology approaches with the goal of discovering new targets for cancer (immuno-) therapy. Following a strong interdisciplinary approach our lab is tightly connected to computational experimental and clinical working groups on the campus. Thus allowing us to funnel results from computational analyses into experimentally testable hypotheses.

Your profile

We are looking for talented curious and experienced scientists with a strong interest in cancer genomics computational biology cancer biology or cancer immunology driven by the desire to make a relevant contribution to the treatment of cancer patients through exciting scientific discoveries in the lab. The ability to work independently is a must. The position requires a PhD degree. Successful candidates will have a strong background in basic molecular and cell biology immunology biochemistry computational biology or similar areas. Candidates should have a genuine interest in cancer biology good communication skills and should be capable of driving projects with a high degree of independence.
