The Advanced Technology Group (ATG) is the research division of the company. ATGs mission is to look ahead deliver insights and innovate technological solutions that will fuel Dolbys continued growth. Our researchers have a broad range of expertise related to computer science and electrical engineering such as AI/ML algorithms digital signal processing audio engineering image processing computer vision data science & analytics distributed systems cloud edge & mobile computing computer networking and IoT.

About the role

As a Research Intern - Volumetric Video Semantics Processing at Dolby you will have the opportunity to work on the cutting-edge and impactful topics in the field. With the guidance of Dolbys leading media technology experts you will address industry-relevant real-world generative video problems aimed at creating advanced consumer experience in multimedia entertainment.

This opportunity will be based at our research offices in Atlanta Georgia.

Summary of Position:

We are a key research team within Dolbys Advanced Technology Group focused on creating cutting-edge imaging technologies that drive next-generation consumer experiences. We are looking for strong candidates with solid technical skills problem-solving and analytical abilities and excellent communication and collaboration skills. The ideal candidate should have interest in one or more of the following areas:

  • Semantics analysis and content understanding

  • Volumetric video representation for static and dynamic Scene

  • LLM/VLM/MMLM and other image/video related Foundation models

  • Interactive/generative video editing

Requirements:

  • PhD student in Artificial Intelligence Computer Science Electrical Engineering or related field.

  • Proven ability to conduct research and demonstrate results through projects prototypes patent filings and papers in peer reviewed journals and conferences.

  • Experience as a researcher including internships full-time positions or at a lab.

  • Proficiency in Python and PyTorch

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Highly Desired Experience in one of the following:

  • Creating demos and prototypes for research applications.

  • Developing innovative AI based solutions for volumetric video generation and enhancement.

  • Experience in applying advanced techniques for volumetric content analysis and understanding.

  • Writing technical reports and/or publications.

  • First-author publications at peer-reviewed conferences or journals.

Eligibility:

Currently enrolled in a doctorate program in Artificial Intelligence Computer Science Electrical Engineering Computer Engineering or a related field. Recent grads who are within 6 months of graduation are also eligible to apply. Must be available to work full-time Monday Friday for 12 weeks between September 2025 December 2025.

The start date for this internship is as follows (please note these dates are not flexible):

  • Monday September 22 2025

The San Francisco/Bay Area base hourly range for this internship position is $50/hrand can vary if outside of this location. Our hourly ranges are determined by role level and location. Within the range individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors including job-related skills experience and relevant education or training. Your recruiter can share more about the specific hourly range and perks and benefits for your location during the hiring process.
