Job Description

The Vacancy Basic Function Minimum Qualifications

THE VACANCY:
This recruitment is Open and Promotional which means that all are welcome to apply and current employees in permanent positions are eligible to receive seniority credit and promotional placement.

There is currently one opening located in the Information Technology Department. This is a full time position working 8 hours per day 5 days per week 12 months per year.

BASIC FUNCTION:
Under the direction of the Supervisor Network provide support and task specific training with Student Information System (SIS) and other databases; maintain and support existing data interfaces; maintain and update existing customer reports; create end-user documentation and maintain technical documentation; assist with extracting and manipulating data from various databases.

DISTINGUISHING CHARACTERISTICS:
The Computer Software Analyst I classification is responsible for troubleshooting testing and maintaining District computer systems and programs. Incumbents review and modify existing systems configurations and provide technical assistance and support to users. The Computer Software Analyst II classification analyzes customer requirements and designs technical solutions as well as writing modifying and debugging computer programs.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

Any combination equivalent to: associates degree in computer science or a related field and two years of experience performing duties of increasing responsibility in a computing environment.

The supplemental questions to the application will be reviewed and rated for certification. These questions are required at the time of application and are qualifying.
An eligibility list will be established for successful candidates which will be used to fill open positions during the life of the list.

Given the current COVID-19-related limitations on visitors at our district offices/school sites examinations and interviewing will likely take be done virtually using different online/internet platforms that require video recording or conferencing capabilities as well as access to basic Microsoft Office Suite Software.

The virtual qualifications appraisals interview (oral exam) is tentatively scheduled for the week of July 21st.You will be notified via email as indicated on your application regarding your ability to participate in the examination phase of this recruitment.

Job Responsibilities

REPRESENTATIVE DUTIES:
ESSENTIAL DUTIES:
Provide end-user support including problem identification and troubleshooting with the SIS and other databases.

Monitor and support server and client-side data interfaces and reports using standard scripting languages and reporting solutions. Use Structured Query Language (SQL) scripting and embedded languages and office automation software to support and maintain custom data integration processes and workflows.

Work collaboratively with vendor agencies and other employees to troubleshoot identify and resolve issues with SIS or other databases and systems. Ensure all data sharing complies with data privacy laws

Assist and provide instruction to end users with the SIS databases and systems and advanced features of software applications including queries report generation mail merge and basic data extraction etc..

Analyze customer problems and requests; create solutions using advanced features of computer applications.

Create and maintain end-user documentation; maintain technical documentation; effectively communicate changes in workflows and processes.

Install software packages; perform data conversion and package maintenance.

OTHER DUTIES:
Perform related duties as assigned.


ABILITY TO:
Analyze and troubleshoot end-user problems; devise end-user solutions; correctly escalate complex problems.
Demonstrate proficiency in scripting (e.g. SQL VBScript Windows Powershell); learn new scripting or macro languages quickly.
Use report designer software to maintain existing custom reports.
Communicate clearly to all levels of staff regarding technical issues both orally and in writing.
Produce professional written documents using correct formatting grammar and spelling.
Assist with training and provide instructions to other staff.
Assist with data extraction and reporting processes and workflows.
Assist with compiling and organizing statistical and technical data.
Meet schedules and time lines.
Complete work with many interruptions.
Work independently with some direction.
Maintain current knowledge of technological advances in the field.
