SUMMARY
The Informatics Nurse Educator will have the primary responsibility of supporting the hospice clinical practice by ensuring Electronic Medical Record (EMR) competence. This individual will provide their expertise as an educator consultant facilitator change agent and leader. The Informatics Nurse Educator will provide education and training for all clinical staff in the use of the EMR. Additionally there will be rotating call coverage for after-hours questions. The Informatics Nurse Educator will serve as the liaison between clinical and IT staff including reporting feedback on new systems and technology directly from the staff who are using it each day. Using the nursing process the Informatics Clinical Nurse Educator will assist in creating appropriate educational opportunities in addition to EMR offerings for the Alive staff by working in collaboration with colleagues in the Education Department.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Trains and supports clinical staff on how to use EMR.
2. Maintains awareness of basic clinical workflows devices and software functionality.
3. Evaluates end users for EMR proficiencies.
4. Rounds with end users to support identify and mitigate issues with EMR.
5. Advocates use of electronic tools and applications to promote patient safety.
6. Develops self as a clinical informatics subject matter expert.
7. Supports on-call needs of the department as assigned.
8. Assists learners in the assessment of needs and identification of outcomes.
9. Develops/coordinates education plans related to initial and ongoing competency validation.
10. Plans prepares and maintains materials for use in educational programs for accuracy and relevance to the target audience.
11. Identifies and evaluates instructional materials in all types of media and formats.
12. Adjusts content and teaching strategies as appropriate to meet diverse learner needs.
13. Provides educational opportunities that benefit staff at all stages of their career development.
14. Delivers competence-based programs for staff with a focus upon improvement of skills and retention of knowledge.
15. Develops evidence-based educational materials.
16. Supports staff development with educational activities (which include remediation mentoring product rollouts etc).
17. Evaluates the effectiveness of educational programming.
18. Prepares short- and long-term planning and programs to address identified needs.
19. Teaches content as needed and/or assigned within clinical expertise to facilitate orientation staff development and/or safe practice.
20. Other duties may also be assigned.

CERTIFICATES LICENSES REGISTRATIONS
If required to drive to carry out the duties of this position: current drivers license and automobile insurance as required by Tennessee State Law. A current Tennessee RN Nursing License.
