Job Description

The Organizational Culture Strategist Academic Affairs will play a key role in cultivating a thriving mission-centered work environment for LMU areas. This position will support campus constituents in continuing to strengthen the organizational culture ensuring that University values norms and behaviors are aligned and supportive of a vibrant culture of belonging creativity collaboration and pride. The ideal candidate will be a strategic partner in culture initiatives provide confidential and neutral consultation and coaching champion and articulate cultural aspirations in alignment with LMUs Jesuit mission and values support learning and development and encourage collaboration across units to foster a positive thriving atmosphere where people feel valued and empowered to succeed and contribute positively to achieving university goals.


Position Specific Responsibilities/Accountabilities

  • Provide neutral and confidential one-on-one and group coaching consultations and honest conversations with faculty associate deans department chairs and senior leaders to support a positive organizational culture and alignment with LMUs values and mission.

  • Encourage collaboration and facilitate dialogue among individuals and across diverse groups to support organizational culture goals and to increase thriving trust teams and cohesion. May include conflict management problem-solving and mediation.

  • Function as an invisible bridge between people and groups who have common struggles/challenges conflicts initiatives or goals to increase collaboration efficiency connection and alignment with culture values and mission.

  • Analyze and monitor organizational culture (as found in formal policies systems structures decision-making processes informal/unwritten/implicit culture and levels of thriving belonging and psychological safety) paying attention to gaps or misalignments between desired culture and current practices and experiences.

  • Identify root causes of issues already in existence and also identify potential risks for achieving desired culture before symptoms appear. P

  • rovide broader picture of organizational culture to the Vice Provost for Faculty Research and Strategy offering non-judgmental and neutral observations and recommendations about gaps misalignments and issues related to culture goals.

  • Lead and/or collaborate on initiatives trainings workshops retreats and seminars that support culture-enhancing initiatives and cultural transformation.

  • Provide recommendations and guidance to leadership that support the desired culture.

  • Pursue grant funding to support culture initiatives.

  • In partnership with institutional leaders develop metrics and benchmarks to evaluate progress on culture initiatives and to provide data for potential publications and grant applications.

  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requisite Qualifications

  • Typically a Masters degree from accredited higher education institution in a field focused on human or organizational well-being such as psychology organizational psychology organizational culture/development leadership ministry/spiritual well-being change management or related field. A Doctoral degree is preferred.

  • Five years of experience in culture development organizational change management leadership development conflict management or related roles.

  • Demonstrated leadership experience with generating a positive thriving environment of belonging and purpose.

  • Excellent skills in coaching consultation and advisory services.

  • Strategic thinking and the ability to align cultural initiatives with University goals mission and values.

  • Strong understanding of organizational dynamics human behavior and cultural transformation.

  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively across all levels of an organization

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to encourage inspire and influence others.

  • Ability to work collaboratively with senior leaders to build individual capacity and commitment towards culture goals and/or cultural change.

  • Emotional intelligence and empathy to understand and address diverse perspectives and needs.

  • A record of exemplary personal and professional integrity demonstrated ability to uphold confidentiality and neutrality and ability to gain and keep trust.

  • Experience in measuring and evaluating cultural impact using data-driven insights to inform culture initiatives and decision-making.

  • Demonstrated understanding of and effectiveness of working within a complex higher education intuitional setting.

  • Demonstrated commitment to LMUs mission to advance the encouragement of learning the education of the whole person and the service of faith and the promotion of justice.

Staff Term (Fixed Term)

Salary range

$97600.00 - $131700.00 Salary commensurate with education and experience.
