Role Summary

Established in 1913 The Rep has an unparalleled history as a pioneering repertory theatre and the launch-pad for some of the most exciting talent in UK theatre both past and present. Today it is a producing powerhouse with three auditoria - The House 816 seats; The Studio 292 seats; The Door 133 seats - as well as extensive on-site production facilities: set building scenic art wardrobe props workshop lighting sound/AV stage and stage management.


Producing theatre is the core of The Reps mission and it creates up to ten productions a year of varying sizes across its stages. Many are made in co-production with other theatres and commercial producers and all Rep-led productions are built in house. Alongside in house productions the theatre presents a programme of visiting productions. The theatre also has an impressive creative learning and talent development programme delivering opportunities for thousands of young people every year.

The Creative Learning department is an integral part of The Rep. We engage 50000 young people each year often providing a first experience of drama and theatre to educational settings and youth theatres. Our work spans the West Midlands and wider regions.

Our bespoke learning programme is widely recognised for its excellence and our Drama Practitioners play a critical role in successful delivery. This involves working with schools youth theatres and community partners to both embed drama into school curriculum direct theatre performance and deliver activities that encourage the development of young people on both an academic and/or holistic level. We strive to stimulate creativity build communication skills and encourage a collaborative approach to performance.

This role could involve working in any of the following:

This role forms part of the Creative Learning will be managed by the Head of Education.

Terms and Conditions

Period of Work: This is a fixed termcontract for 12 months subject to successful completion of a probationary period of 3months.

Pay: The salary is 22957.60 per annum on a part time basis of 31.2 hours per week. The full time equivalent salary for this role is 28697.

Hours:31.2 hours per week (4 days per week) Tuesday Friday dont encourage or expect overtime however in the event that over time is worked this may be taken as time off in lieu to be agreed in advance with your line manager.

Holidays: 25 days per year plus bank holidays rising to 30 days plus bank holidays with continuous service. This is pro rata for part time staff. The holiday year runs from 1 September to 31 August each year.

Notice Period:1 month

Location of Work:You will spend much of your week based in school premises and on Fridays your main place of work will be The Rep in Birmingham. You may be required to work permanently or temporarily at other locations locally.
