Job Description

We seek to appoint a dynamic and experienced Procurement and Sustainability Manager to this position. This role will be responsible for leading and championing Geelong Grammar Schools commitment to environmental sustainability by implementing strategic initiatives.

About the role:

An opportunity exists for a sustainability professional to take on a role which aims to create and lead the implementation of the Geelong Grammar School (GGS) Sustainability Strategy and deliver a business plan and projects for GGS to become Carbon Negative and to have responsibility for leading the Procurement processes of the School across all campuses.

Key responsibilities of this role include:

  • Embed the Sustainability Strategy into all capital projects;
  • Refresh relevant GGS Policies for endorsement and review every 3 years by the GGS Executive and Leadership Team and School Council;
  • Build and refresh the pipeline of actions required to fulfil the Sustainability policy targets leading the major Sustainability capital projects within that;
  • Build connections to the Geelong sustainability community;
  • Be responsible for the Schools procurement process by reviewing and supporting the delivery and management of the Schools major contracts and framework agreements to ensure third-party products materials and services delivery is in alignment with the needs of the School and embed the sustainability principles;
  • Project management (identify projects get endorsement for projects develop project plans implement projects manage change and report and project progress and outcomes);
  • Liaise with internal and external stakeholders (students staff and GGS community);
  • Apply the GGS project management methodology to projects;
  • Contribute to and participate in Project Management activities and other duties;

About you:

To be successful in this role you will need:

  • A relevant tertiary qualification
  • Current Employee Working with Children Check
  • Demonstrated experience developing and implementing initiatives in organisations to reduce carbon emissions
  • Knowledge of the current government policies and leading organisational practices in Sustainability
  • Knowledge of and experience in applying the UN Sustainability Development Goals in organisations
  • Knowledge of relevant Sustainability frameworks and Accreditation systems such as One Planet Living Project Drawdown etc.
  • Experience working with Schools
