At the College of Western Idaho (CWI) you will work in a dynamic collaborative environment where problem-solving and innovation are valued and your contributions directly enhance the efficiency of the institution.
Staff Supervision & Support
Provide daily leadership and supervision for a team of academic advisors.
Coordinate advisor schedules manage workload distribution and ensure adequate front-line coverage.
Facilitate training and onboarding of new advisors; support ongoing staff development.
Conduct regular observation or performance check-ins and evaluations.
Serve as a resource and content expert for advisors on academic policies procedures and tools.
Foster a collaborative and inclusive team culture by facilitating regular team-building activities encouraging peer support and promoting shared ownership of departmental goals.
Direct Student Advising
Advise a caseload of approximately 100 students across various programs.
Build intentional and supportive relationships with assigned advisees with advising touchpoints.
Provide comprehensive academic advising including pre-registration educational planning and graduation checks.
Guide students in understanding degree requirements institutional policies and pathways to completion.
Collaborate with faculty and student support services to provide wraparound assistance.
Operation and Strategic Support
Assist in monitoring and interpreting Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) and advising metrics.
Support the implementation of advising-related initiatives retention strategies and special projects that align with departmental and institutional goals.
Provide regular feedback to senior leadership regarding departmental operations staff performance and emerging needs to support continuous improvement and strategic planning.
Contribute to process improvements documentation and efficiency enhancements.
Coordinate communication and collaboration across departments to improve the student experience.
Participate in ongoing professional development related to academic advising leadership or student success to stay current with best practices.
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelors degree required; equivalent combination of education and relevant experience may be considered
Three years of experience in academic advising career counseling admissions registrar financial aid or a related student support area
Demonstrated leadership experience with a proven ability to make decisions aligned with institutional priorities foster accountability and motivate teams through transparency goal setting and individual development
Strong technical proficiency with database systems Microsoft Office Suite and presentation software
Excellent verbal and written communication skills including cross-cultural interpersonal abilities
Confident public speaker with the ability to represent the college effectively to diverse audiences
Demonstrated event planning and coordination skills
Ability to interpret implement and communicate academic and administrative policies
Ability to travel between multiple campuses and outreach locations as needed
Bilingual proficiency in Spanish and English preferred

**Most positions at CWI are in-person and based on campus. While some roles may allow up to two remote workdays per week eligibility for remote work is determined on a case-by-case basis at the hiring managers discretion. All candidates must reside within or be willing to relocate to a reasonable commuting distance from CWI. Employment visa sponsorship is not available for this position.
