Job Title: Collision Center Discovery Technician

Department: Collision Center / Body Shop

Location: Helotes TX

Job Type: Full-Time



Position Overview:

As part of the Open Road Collision group DBA Helotes Collision we pride ourselves on delivering high-quality collision repair services with exceptional customer care. Our team is dedicated to restoring vehicles to pre-accident conditions while making the repair process as smooth and stress-free as possible for our customers. Were currently seeking a motivated detail-oriented individual to join our team as a Discovery Technician.

Discovery Technicians play a critical role in the repair process by performing detailed vehicle inspections to identify all damage resulting from a collision. This position supports accurate repair planning ensures proper documentation of damage and facilitates a seamless workflow between estimators body technicians and insurance partners. The Discovery Technician acts as a bridge between disassembly and estimation ensuring no damage goes unnoticed and contributing to safe thorough and cost-effective repairs.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform comprehensive teardown and inspection of vehicles to uncover all collision-related damage including hidden structural and mechanical issues.
  • Document all findings clearly and accurately including photographs notes and repair recommendations.
  • Work closely with estimators to update repair plans and ensure accurate parts ordering.
  • Communicate with technicians and parts departments to coordinate timely repair processes.
  • Identify any supplemental damage and report it promptly to estimators and management.
  • Ensure all disassembled parts are properly labeled stored and protected.
  • Follow OEM repair procedures and safety guidelines.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work area.
  • Support a team environment focused on quality repairs and customer satisfaction.
  • Stay up to date with industry best practices technology and equipment.

Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Prior experience in auto body repair or collision disassembly preferred.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and attention to detail.
  • Ability to read and understand repair plans estimates and technical instructions.
  • Familiarity with vehicle structures OEM procedures and repair processes.
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and meet deadlines.
  • Must possess a valid drivers license and a clean driving record.
